Pelini and Recruiting

IMO, yes, a lack of emphasis on recruiting for the first 2-3 years of Bo's tenure is the biggest reason why we are watching the defense that we have so far this year.

In addition, I know that people don't like to hear this, but the move to the B1G had a huge impact on what personnel we could recruit (or thought we could recruit). Our LB core was almost non-existent in our big 12 days, and that is no doubt hurting us now because we don't have the guys that have a good enough combination of physicality, speed, and mentality to play LB anywhere. Hopefully our stud class of true freshmen LBs changes that.
this is what I was thinking at the end of last year. Especially since i'd never seen a spread type team stand a chance against Pelini. But we just had 600+ hung on our defense by a Pac12 team. That was happening regardless of the conference move. In fact, I might be really worried if we were still in the Big12. My only hope is that our slower LBers and "contain" DL can stuff guys like 240 pound Bell and win us some B1G games.

I think we should try to relax a bit...myself included. 2008 recruiting was abyssmal. Those r the seniors we have now. We just need to allow for youth to develop and recruit better. I've seen an upswing in recruiting

well obviously you aren't a true Husker! Cause your above statement while articulate, sensible, and very accurate, it isn't a statement that would incite rioting! So take your common sense and well thought out statements to some other fluff filled message board! This here is HuskerBoard my friend. Come here with guns a blazin or STFU!!! :P

Per Rivals. Here is how Nebraska's recruiting class has fared under Bo Pelini.

2008 - Ranked #30 taking in 28 recruits (Colorado ranked #15)

2009 - Ranked #28 taking in 20 recruits (UCLA ranked #14)

2010 - Ranked #22 taking in 21 recruits (UCLA ranked #8)

2011 - Ranked #15 taking in 19 recruits (we took in 11 four star recruits)

2012 - Ranked #25 taking in 17 recruits (UCLA ranked #13)

As of right now we are ranked #28 with 14 recruits.

One amazing figure that i did see. Wisconsin has won the Big Ten title twice now. Yet from 2008 until now, they have never had a recruiting class that ranked better than 30th in the nation. Definitely makes you think, its not how high the talent you bring in is ranked, but what you do with that talent.
