I thought Vedral only started because of 2AM injuries? I do remember him benching Martinez for Luke though...

Which ever it was, Vedral was given a chance as the starter and didn’t work out.

At this point, do anything.  Try whatever.  Just try. This is probably an effort in futility but we can at least give it some freaking effort. A man needs some hope to carry on logging into this board!

I agree. I never thought Martinez would peak at his freshman season. I also am not saying I think Smothers is the answer. I am just saying I dont think it is fair to compare a senior to a freshman. The fact a freshman had similiar results to a senior says more about the senior than the freshman IMO. 

It was the best collection of talent and experience he ever had around him. I don't think Martinez necessarily peaked then, but the team as whole was stronger making Matinez's play look better.

Not really much of a down side to bringing him in. He may or may not be the guy, but outside of Ward, he is my pick if we are going to seriously go after a portal guy

We have seriously went after portal QBs.. unfortunately we have nothing to offer them at the moment..

He's not mobile. So that will help opposing DC's.  IIRC, USC's starter was a grad transfer who previously played QB before becoming a grad assistant on staff.  USC had no QB so he was asked to play....Again, stick with our QB's.  Until the OL gets up to speed, mobility will help us tremendously. It seems like we are now really reaching for some "quality" QB's.  I would not be surprised if ours enter the portal.  Looking at a guy like Brown, says the staff does not think our 2022 QB is on the roster.

Brown could have simply heard some feelers from recruiting staff. If he doesn't have an offer, it's hard to get any idea where he would be on the board.

Purdy does at least have some pedigree.

He was the number 7 dual threat QB for his class on 247. Smothers was number 14 in the same class.
