Thompson would be a great addition. I am not a fan of Purdy.

I agree but if we can get both then I’m all for it. We need depth and competition at every position

There is also a scholarship issue.  We need lineman more than 2 portal qbs.

Exactly. If these guys were into “competing” and/or “waiting for their time “, most would not be in the portal.  If for some reason, Purdy commits soon, it tells me we aren’t getting Thompson and vice-versa.  I know a few experts are saying we will try for two, both will not be relatively high profile.

We are at 3 over right now and you are talking about adding 2 more qbs when there are more pressing needs on the ol.

Schaffer saying today on radio he expects 2 qb and at least 1-2 DBs from portal. Either it is known more guys are leaving or as stated, some will be encouraged to leave.

Why on earth do we need more DBs? We got a 4 star transfer kid this year (Hill), got a 5 star kid last year (Johnson), another 4 star kid the year before (Jospeh), then we have guys multiple years in waiting for spots (Pola-Gates, Clark, Newsome etc.).  Fisher needs to do some work and coach them up, these scholarships need to go elsewhere like the OL as others keep saying.   3-4 more over 88 means 3-4 more leaving before we could even accept OL transfers.

I believe he is thinking that some may enter portal if they don’t start, so he mentioned building depth if and when that happens. I am just reporting what he said today in his interview

I assume there will be a fresh batch of guys to the portal after Noel season concludes. Hopefully some quality linemen.
