Enhance89's status brought to my attention that the post count on the user profile display page does not match the postcount shown in threads.
Bored so I thought I'd check it out, and so far I have to admit I'm kind of confused.
I made a new post. Both postcounts went +1.
I deleted that post. The profile display went -1, while the in-thread display was unchanged.
But that's weird - if this is the case, then the in-thread display should be greater than or equal to the profile display. Instead, the discrepancy is that the profile display shows a higher postcount.
I also deleted personal messages, which did not affect either display.
(EDIT): haha, actually, I just sent a PM, and that increased the profile display postcount while not changing the thread display postcount.
So it looks like:
Profile Display = (Forum Posts) + (PMs sent)
[where deleted forum posts no longer count, but deleted PMs sent remain]
Thread Display = (Forum Posts) + (Deleted Forum Posts)
This is super confusing and it doesn't make any sense why it would work this way.
