Posting Issues

You never answered my question from earlier - do you have a script blocker running?

Also, what browser are you using? What's your platform?

And I'm sorry for not giving you all the info I have already accumulated. I've had some buddies down here in Austin all weekend for the game. Here is what I know:

  • It seems to be browser specific. Not working in Firefox with cache cleared, but works in Explorer.
  • It does not have anything to with a script blocker.
  • I have the same problem when signed in on 3 different computers using Firefox.
Also, I just tried all of the shortcuts (emoticons, link, image, quotation, code, media) and none of them do anything for me anymore except the emoticons.

 
Do you have Adblock running on all of your Firefox browsers? And are all of your browsers up to date, including plug-ins?

My primary suspects here are:

Script Blocker

Adblock - prime suspect at this point

Outdated browser

Outdated plug-ins

It's gotta be one of these, because I exclusively use Firefox and have no issues, both on PC and Mac.

Sorry, I laughed at this :) Sorry that it took a video to get through to us. I think it's pretty amusing you had to go to such lengths. Basically makes all of us the :dumdum ones. If you are using Firefox, I would disable all the plugins (that can be done, right? I don't use FF anymore), and then see if that makes it work. From there you can figure out which is the culprit. It doesn't seem likely that Firefox itself is the problem, so like knapp said - must be a plugin.

Well, after some testing, it seems to be account specific. I created a new username to test it on the same computers I was using my normal account on and it has no issues while my normal account still does. Is there any chance someone went in and changed my posting permissions?

No change - yours are identical to the rest of us. And I checked both the Mods global permissions/restrictions and your eliot1171-specific permissions/restrictions.

I seem to recall a member having this issue, and we stumbled across a solution, but for the life of me I can't find a thread or post on it.

One thing we can do is to merge your eliot1171 account with your "new" account, then rename the new account to eliot1171. Since the new account is working, and since merging your "old" account will bring over only your posts, etc., that should do it. Can't be sure, but I think it will.
