Assessing the talent: A Step Ahead: Jim Stefani's Underclassmen Football Recruiting Blog

Gabbert is your prototypical drop-back quarterback prospect and among the top QBs in the nation….. As a junior, he passed for 1,523 yards, 20 TDs and just 7 INTs while rushing for an additional 458 yards and 7 TDs………..Passed for 1,265 yards and 11 TDs as a sophomore……..He has nice frame, very strong arm and shows good escapability (4.65 combine forty, 4.37 shuttle). Has a quick release and puts a lot of zip on the ball. Can make all the throws…….Very poised in the pocket but needs to overcome a tendency to hold on to the ball too long……..Very impressive at the 2007 U.S. Army Combine, being named Second Team All-Combine…….Looked good at the 2006 Missouri and Miami (Ohio) camps…..As of late January he had offers from Missouri, Miami (Ohio), Clemson and Kansas State.

Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 95% COMMITTED TO NU. Love our chances with this kid. Cosgrove is recruiting him. Two current Huskers, Michael McNeil and Keith Williams, are both from Blaine ’s hometown.

didnt it also say on rivals that he was very impressed with Nebraska and that he plans to go to there camp in the summer? He also said he has grown to about 6'5 and put on some weight. We are also in on I think three qb's in the initial top 100.

1) Blaine has cousins that live in Omaha and who are constantly IN HIS EAR about going to NU

2) Billy C coach Blaine's dad as a Saluki.

So CBC has connections to this players family? Geez, is their anyone in America Coach Callahan doesn't know in some way, shape, or form?

CowboyBob Posted Mar 2 2007, 11:46 AMNU has a very good shot at Blaine at this point in time.
How can you be so certain???

Just gotta love how he keeps bringing up NU in every discussion someone has had with him. I agree with CowboyBob, gotta love NU's chances right now........and if he attend the Elite QB camp, he's in the bag. NU coaches will treat him right

This kid is as good as any QB in the nation. He can make all the throws, can run and is smart. Reminds me of Jarret Lee from last years recruiting. He is also a good bet to be a top 100 player which could, if committed, would give NU three.

He wants to decide before his senior season starts. Put his decision at four months.

Blaine Talking Schools

Seems like the top 3 are Mizzou, Iowa, and Nebraska.

He likes Mizzou's offense, Iowas coaches, and Nebraska facilities and tradition. He also mentioned our coaches a little bit. He seems like someone would can get if we go after him hard enough. Since he's making a early decision hopefully already having 2 top 100s can impress him (also the fact they are OL). Could have a great 08 class going already with some of these guys early.
