Racism - It's a real thing.

The guy is more than tone deaf, it is more than his lack of empathy, it is more than his lack of understanding of history,  it is more than his 'what about ism', it is that he has shown by his statements and actions that he is a racist.

Asked by CBS News' Catherine Herridge on Tuesday why Black Americans are still dying at the hands of police, President Trump responded: "And so are white people. So are white people. What a terrible question to ask."

Why it matters: A 2018 study found that Black men are about 3.5 times more likely to be killed by law enforcement than their white counterparts.

  • A second study in 2019 found that out of every 1,000 black men in the U.S., one will likely die at the hands of police.
  • Trump claimed that "more white people" are killed by police, but white Americans comprise a larger portion of the population than Black people and other minorities.

The big picture: Trump, who has faced backlash for his response to nationwide protests against the police killing of George Floyd, defended his attacks on the movement to take down Confederate statues and symbols by claiming that it's a "freedom of speech" issue.

What he's saying: "All I say is freedom of speech. It's very simple. My attitude is freedom of speech. Very strong views on the Confederate flag. With me, it's freedom of speech. Very simple. Like it, don't like it, it's freedom of speech."

  • "Well people love it," Trump said in response to whether he knows about the painful history of the Confederate flag. "I know people that like the Confederate flag and they're not thinking about slavery. I look at NASCAR — you go to NASCAR, you had those flags all over the place. They stopped it."
  • Asked how he would feel about supporters displaying the Confederate flag at campaign events, Trump responded: "You know, it depends on what your definition is. But I am comfortable with freedom of speech. It's very simple."

You might know more about this because you do hiring...but how do people with no ss# get a job legally?  Or, do they just not get them legally?

 
guess you can't legally protest unless you are carrying an  AR-15 and threatening a government official.  or maybe it's something else that i just can't figure out?

'Legally' they do not unless they have some sort of work visa or other government issued identity verification.

A lot of people use fake ss#'s to get certain paperwork processed and/or their employers just look the other way. From what I've been told it's not really that hard to do especially for certain industries (i.e. if you're hiring someone as a cook, certain labor/manufacturing jobs, etc.)

Ahhh...

And then, they get a paycheck with taxes taken out because it takes the IRS forever to find out?

That I'm not sure about.

I'm aware of an 'employer' I guess I'll call them that has a couple of people on staff who are not legal U.S. citizens but have ss#'s, state-issued ID's, own property, etc. So, for government and tax purposes, all appears in order.

An employer like us goes through all the possible checks when someone applies.  I know some can get such real documents that I've been told by some HR specialists that there is no way you can catch them all.  I don't know exactly how they get them.

Unless it's an employer who doesn't even pay taxes, the taxes are taken out just like normal and the employee never sees the benefit such as social security..etc.

It's the reason why the comment that these illegals are here mooching off of us tax payers is such BS.  They are paying taxes.
