Rest Tommy next week?

If anyone, especially players and coaches, approaches this game with the attitude that they can let off the gas even a little, bad things will happen. This is not a game where you play down to your opponents; where you don't use your best players; where you take a few plays off; where you underestimate your opponent. OP makes assumptions about our running game and their run defense. He is also by implication making assumptions about many other things happening exactly as he would like them to happen. Bad mistake. Never let off the gas. Never.

You don't ever let off the gas, however if you can rest a player that will not be at 100% and avoid delaying his ability to get near 100% then those calculated risk can be taken. I will be happy with a game plan that lets our lineman and TA recover to become closer to 100%. This team can not afford to go into Wisc and or OSU with players playing at 80%

Too early to revisit this?

Thank God Riley didn't listen to all those advisors who said he should bench Tommy A because our line and RBs could dominate and run right over Purdue. Hell, without a half dozen long passes, we were basically impotent on offense vs. Purdue. As I said, we can't afford to simply dump our best vs anybody anymore. We'd better save Tommy and some of our injured guys against Ohio State. In fact, we might want to forfeit that one cause we don't need that game to get to the championship game.

To be clear alot of us were saying Tommy should have sat if he was hampered by his injury. He looked good in that department today. He needs to hit those deep throws thathe are wide open though. That would help our run game tremendously
