Retiring Osborne always kept cool under pressure

AP article on TO.

"Rob Zatechka, a redshirt freshman who later would play on Nebraska's famed "Pipeline" offensive line, remembers pandemonium on the sideline. Teammates were yelling at each other, assistant coaches were yelling at players and other assistants. Then Zatechka caught sight of head coach Tom Osborne, the picture of calm as he chewed his Big Red gum and spoke through his headset, seemingly removed from the chaos around him. "I was taken aback by it," Zatechka said. "I thought, 'He's not panicking. If he's not panicking, we shouldn't panic, either."

Good lesson for our current coach and coaches to adopt. (Although, Bo has grown in that department and I hope he continues to grow! :) Merry Christmas all!

I enjoy a cool headed coach, like Osborne and Stans coach. Very level headed. With that said, I played under the most winning-est coach in my state and he would rip your a$$ whether you were up 60-0 or 6-0. He demanded perfection and I doubt you would find 1 former player of his that wouldn't "run through a brick wall" for him. Now looking back, did it mess with his play calling at times? Yes, I believe it did. and I think he would be the first person to tell you he called the wrong play on emotions. Trying to force things etc etc
