RUMOR: Decision on Mike Riley Already Made, Will Be Let Go

Of course the decision has already been made. Eichorst didn't get fired for Riley's performance back in September so that the Football Guy AD would not get a chance to hire his Football Coach.

I did receive a text from a guy in Oregon that hasn't been wrong in quite some time about coaching hires. At least the ones we talk about.

He said that from his source in Oregon that Scott Frost has already agreed to be the coach at NU.

"Appears that Frost has accepted this offer. Expect a smooth transition after this season as Riley steps down and Frost takes over"

FWIW

This would put us at #11 in the country for coaches salary at 4.8 mil. Much better than #41. Shows that its time to open the checkbook to get a winning coach in place.

Think about what happened in 2013.  There has been a plan in place since WAY before Pelini was fired.
Is that the year the Pelini rant was released?  Maybe the year SE was hired?  I don't know if the plan was to fire Pelini to hire Riley but I guess it was because that's what happened.

How confident are you in this source? What avenue is he claiming to get his info from? PowerT doesn’t seem like the type to spread just any rumor

Most of these rumors posts of people claiming they know someone who knows someone I just roll my eyes and take it with zero substance. However, you are a credible poster and I certainly don't think you'd post this if you didn't believe in your "source" fully. But, my only question is how does some guy in Oregon have this information, where an entire state where Frost is from, and where UNL is this has not been heard or leaked.

Good questions. My buddy originally grew up in Oregon and moved to Nebraska for a few years while I was in college. Got to know him pretty well. Text every now and then about various college football stuff. He a media guy with a lot of connections. Not saying they are all credible but he doesn't ever present me any info that doesn't have smoke.

I trust him, so I have bought into it. I know that it's hard to come on to huskerboard and believe what people are saying from a rumor stand point....so if I were to put a percentage on it. I'd say 90% +

It wasn't any old text from a friend that was speculation. I felt this was worth telling all of you. Hell, I suppose he could be wrong but I just don't think he'd spew that stuff willy nilly.

If Florida takes Frost, I would like to see Justin Fuente.
Why would he leave VaTech? I just don't see him as a realistic possibility as that's a pretty decent job over there.

Appreciate the info Coach Power'T let's hope he's right!

Well, the website that the article writer uses as a source has Jon Gruden as the next Tennessee head coach (+200) with Chip Kelly (+400) next in line.  So.......   :corndance

Chip Kelly maybe but Gruden?
