Rumors Tony White to FSU

College football has changed dramatically since we were a dominant team. NIL and portal has destroyed college football. Nowadays, people have zero patience. They want to win and they want to win now. They cannot be waiting for a coach for 3-4 years to get his s#!t together. If you have an opportunity to win or make more money doing the same job, you will bolt. Those people who argue that the Iowa game and the stupid drama was not damaging to our progress, are clueless. What transpired on Friday goes beyond just losing a game, we are looking at potentially losing some players, may be White, and definitely some recruits. No one wants to be a part of a losing culture.

Pretty sure that was the agreement when he was hired.  He has one year of DC experience at PSU in 2013 and they were 60th overall, 26 points given up per game.   He's basically been a DB coach for a lot of his career. That's underwhelming if it works out that way.
Again with this training on the job bulls#!t. We will never join blue blood status again unless we hire like one.

Our worst unit in defense. Hey make him DC. Can’t make this s#!t up. Only at Nebraska

The total D would put us 11th this year in the BIG and points we'd be 13th in the B1G.....Not near where we need to be to win what we want to win.  60th puts as slightly above average.

Tired of us being a training ground.  As one of the true blue bloods yet to turn around our "decade of despair", I my mind it starts with a competent staff top to bottom...Whatever changes Rhule makes (or has to make with departures) they need to be home run type hires.

I might start to gain confidence in Rhule again if he pulls holgerson(experienced OC with HC experience) PLUS go do the same at DC. Show us you take winning seriously and understand the significance of a breakout season next year.

With the way things are going around the country I think recruiting staff will be more important. It is a recruiting and talent retention game. Maybe we should be on the cutting edge of the country and start hiring talent retention staff- their only job is to go pad all our players egos and make sure they are happy and don’t transfer

If Rhule doesn’t get this hire right, he sealed his fate. I don’t want another Chinander or stupid DC that doesn’t know crap. Get established DC, OC, and ST coaches.

I would not blame him. His defense did its job against Iowa and our ST and offense pissed their pants. You can’t ask more from a defense than holding the opponent to 5 first downs (only 1 in the first half) and 164 total yards, and then watch the offense and ST self destruct. He probably is seeing that Rhule is lost and it is a matter of time before he is shown the door. At some point, you start seeing the writing on the wall. Out of all coordinators, he was the one with the right body language all year long. I really hope he stays but wouldn’t be surprised if he bolted. It is easier to win in ACC.

I'm not ready to give up on White and would prefer he stay, but Iowa had their 4th string quarterback. I'm happy with the way the defense played, but White has no reason to be pissed or think he isn't part of the problem after some of the other games the defense has played. But he should leave for more money.

Hiring coaches and assistant coaches is a complete crapshoot.

We’ve hired DCs with no experience to great success and we’ve hired DCs with tremendous experience that were complete disasters.

The only thing that is true is a decent chunk of the fanbase will be calling for said coaches head in a year or 2.
Carl Pelini and Marvin Sanders are 2 that in recent memory I thought did a great job.  PGA receiver coach Rich Fischer as well.  But yes, the fanbase (myself included) will be calling for their heads in year 2 or sooner...

I would hate to see White leave, as I like continuity!  His defense does well at times but also got exposed this year. Don’t read too much into the Iowa game. 4th string QB in very cold weather, combined with the best RB in the conference… I could have called defense that night. I want him to stay, but I won’t act like we are losing the second coming….

One thing we can all agree on is that we are nowhere close to turning that proverbial corner than we were a decade ago. Even with top 25 recruiting classes and a 5-star QB, we are still a punching bag and a laughingstock of the BIG. It goes to show you that handing a Lamborghini to someone who can’t drive will not win you any races. On a positive note, we have financed the retirement portfolio for 4 HCs in that span. Maybe karma will reward us in this decade.
