I've been seeing this blog going around Facebook: http://www.messykennedy.com/2016/11/09/rural-uneducated-person/
and in it is the following:
Rural people tend to vote Republican.
Rural, Uneducated people have an even higher tendency to vote Republican.
Urban, uneducated people tend to vote Democratic.
Thus the need to distinguish.
If I was to make a blog post in defense of the rural, uneducated, I would talk about how uneducated does not mean stupid. I'm not smarter now than I was before I got my degrees. I'm just more knowledgeable on a narrow subject.
and in it is the following:
She is not uneducated, therefore she is not who they are talking about. People need to re-learn what an intersection is and what the purpose of the comma is. I was a rural, uneducated person for 32 years, and I never once thought anyone on TV meant "rural uneducated" and meant everyone in a rural area was uneducated. It was always "rural, uneducated" to me. They are simply talking about a demographic group; those who live in a rural area AND are uneducated.Well let me tell you I am one of those “uneducated” people living in a rural area.
I have 2 degrees from a Big 10 school, traveled the country and the world, and I choose to live in Rural America. I have friends that live in our area who have degrees from various elite universities.
