S Jordan Diggs [South Carolina Commit]

Sounds like Bo will be visiting JD on thursday. Time to seal the deal.
Indeed. Talk some sense into him Bo! I will say that if he still wants to do the live announcement with hats at the Army AA game, then I'll know something. Hope we gain his commitment before then. JMO
Have we ever been picked during a hat selection? Did Cally recruits ever do the hat game and throw on a skers hat?

Todd Peat picked us during a hat selection....
Aaron Green did as well, at his church last year...

To be fair though, I think he was talking about hat selection during an all-star game. I don't recall ever being picked. I seem to remember being a finalist and losing out, come hat time, though...
Thanks for seeing what I'm talking about. It wasn't about a simple hat selection process. I'm talking about the game, with cameras and lights.
Nyan Botang was the last guy I even remember having a hat on the table at a game. Maybe Wayne Lyons, but I believe we all new NU didn't make this final three.

Nyan would have been the greatest WR ever here. Hell he was homeboys with JayZ, Kevin Garnet, hell all the A List celebs would have came to Lincoln to watch Nyan ball. Plus ya gotta love the name......BOTANG!!!!!!
This dude chose Florida, got into trouble there, then transferred to Cal.
Yep, where he actually somewhat contributed. Broken foot slowed him down. Was cut by the Giants, got arrested for misdemeanor domestic assault, and now plays for the Chicago Rush of the Indoor Football League.

But god the hype that came with this kid was great back in the day.

As it was said, he had a blast at the USC game. Insiders say USC is in the driver's seat. We have the last in-home visit.

Ever since USC got Clowney, they have been able to attract higher profile defensive recruits. Jordan seemed like he was a 'Sker, but all of this Gamecock talk, I'm feeling a bit uneasy!!

GBR!
Most people would attribute our defensive recruiting back to Stephon Gilmore. He really pushed us over the top.

USCe supposedly also leads for Chaz Elder, and Elijah Shumate. Will they have enough room for 3 safeties? My gut tells me one of them will be told there is no more room.
This would be ideal. I definitely think Elder will go there.
Elder is being recruited as a CB. Shumate as a S. Diggs as a Spur (hybrid LB/S). All three are definite takes for USC.

Keep in mind when Diggs came for the clemson game that was his first visit to the school..EVER, Kind of surprising considering his dad played here, but I think we really made a move with him. I think the biggest thing about his visit was him watching our current Spur LB(position JD would play for us) Antonio Allen. Allen is our best defensive player and really disrupts opposing offenses. Allen is also a senior and that spot becomes WIDE open next year and Diggs realizes this. I dont know anything for sure, but I believe he is a Gamecock as of now.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Bo Pelini just ahd an in-home visit with JD, and it does sound like it is a USC/Nebraska battle. But this is far from over, he is still planning on announcing at the Army All-American Bowl.

Not feeling good about this one, as many of you all know, if he doesn't announce his commitment to us prior to the AAA game, he's picking the Cocky hat on TV. I'd love to be wrong and I'll gladly own up to it, but not feeling good.

Not looking at this one too optimistically, given our "success" with such announcements.

We havent had much success with announcements either. Sharif Floyd was supposed to pick us at the Army game and ended up picking Florida. Even though this year it looks like we may get quite a few commits with these announcements. DE Tyriq McCord, Diggs, and Shumate are all supposed to announce at the Army game and Elder at the UA game.

Well in your defense, UF that year was the national flavor of the month. They had a monster class that year.

For all the SC fans on here... it's been said earlier. It's game time. Capital One Bowl? More like the Battle for Jordan Diggs Bowl.

Glad to see more and more fanbases coming over to Huskerboard. It always makes things way more interesting have those perspectives on things.

I saw earlier you said that your hybrid LB/S guy is graduating so hopefully he sees that as a need. Well on our side, I hope he sees the same. Thorell just did not get it done for us at the Peso position, and he is leaving after this year. I would think he would likely play true safety for us, but if he wants to play that hybrid position, all he's got to do is look at what Dejon Gomes did for us a year ago and see that he can make the same impact. Needless to say, I would love to see him come to Lincoln.
