First, I appreciate the work the prior ownership put in.  And I can’t fault him/them for divesting themselves.

But with that said, is this the correct place to vent about the HuskerMax “takeover”?

That board software is trash with a ton of adds.  I basically stopped visiting a handful of years ago because all the adds used to crash my browser.

I bet a lot of your fellow Huskerboarders share your concerns and are nervous about potential changes, but are also nervous about saying anything. Their ads, especially the ones with sound, are awful. Huskerboard, in addition to having the best community and being well-moderated, has had a better look and is more functional as a message board. I have always been baffled that a site like Huskermax, with paid subscriptions and ad revenue, could have such a bad look, while free and simple HB has always looked clean.

I'm guessing this will generate some discussion so I split it out to its own thread.

 
It's probably best to just hold tight until we learn more information. I trust Blackshirt put measurable thought and effort into this decision and didn't make it lightly. Admins like Mav/Saunders have done a really nice job keeping day-to-day operations going around here for quite a long time and I know they will continue to provide their excellent services.

And if you're looking for a reason to be optimistic or 'glass half full,' remember that this change isn't happening because we're a failing corporation in need of saving. There's a reason Huskerboard is an incredibly successful message board - it's all of us. It's the community. It's the fact that we keep coming back.

We have a good thing going here, and though I can't say (and don't know) about any changes that may or may not happen, I think we've got the people here to ensure Huskerboard continues to flourish.

Take your optimistic crap out of here.  This is a thread for venting/complaining!

 
I understand the sale and respect the decision, but pretty sure I'm not going to be a fan of the adds and articles. I think s#!ts going to be messy for awhile. I know you mods will bust your butts, I just hope it can get back to something like what it is now. I'm having nightmares of past updates with the crappy auto play adds. And looking at huskermax's front page gives me the Willy's.

Honestly this is the only board I come to for Husker news. It's all you need! The layout is the best of any message board I've been on for cars, games, DIY, sports, anything.

i go over to scan the front page.  Sometimes they have interesting news tidbits or articles and they were posting excerpts from the book "Anatomy of an Era" so I'd read those.  Reading any of their threads was too annoying with the ads and layout.
