Non-democrats, like me, want OUR MONEY (taxes) spent educating OUR KIDS on schools WE CHOOSE. Bad schools will lose students, and the funding per student, as they should. It's called competition. The worst schools admins and teachers will find themselves out of game, eventually, which is where they belong.

Now to to OP....sounds great. If he can get half of it passed it will provide for major improvements. Old Mitch Mc appears to be quite opposed to not being able to stay in the Senate until he dies. Hopefully he loses that fight (term limits not life/death fight ha I don't want him dead just want him out of government).

I know public schools hate charter schools. There doesn't seem to be as much of the hate towards private schools from what I can tell but that might just be what I think/feel.

So you advocate getting rid of all forms of socialism, like taxes and Medicaid/Medicare, right?

I don't think there is hate but in Colorado, there has been a school voucher push for 20 years or so now. It's been an active fight for awhile as with some other states.

Question here, as I'm not versed in this particular issue at all. So I can only go off your description.

When a school fails in this competitive utopia market, loses its funds and goes under -- what happens to the students there?

Is that where they will belong? Are you sure that will never be your kids? How would you prevent it?

I actually like the way you look at that. Schools are stagnant, I think we all know that. Teachers are handcuffed because of stupid rules and idiotic parents that are fighting the wrong things.

Competition for a spot at a certain school (even in your district) is a very interesting idea, very interesting.

Now, one thing that NEEDS to happen is that class sizes need to be smaller. I have about 30-32 in a class, I am a super boss of a teacher though, for most teachers that is a crazy high number.

Class sizes should be capped at 16 so that teachers can...wait for it...teach.

It's one thing to reform the tax/funding structure. It's another thing to say a tax has to be spent on you directly. How about we refund all taxes that finance schools for those that do not have children? How about we remove the gas tax and make every road a tollway? That way, only the people that use the road bear the cost for it.

As Knap suggested, there is a huge part of the social good in these types programs. Areas adjacent to the worst-performing schools typically have higher crime rates. Part of that around Denver is young people skipping school but have nothing to do. Apparently, availability of time couplde with lack of financial means has a negative impact on crime rate...

In a competitive utopia market they would not fail.

But with that said...if you have ever seen what "bad" schools are like it would almost make more sense to home school if that was an option. With it also being based on competition it would, in theory, mean that more schools would open to replace the bad ones...in theory.

 
There is no purpose in government in schools whatsoever. Running a school is simple and the demand is everywhere and growing. Forced monopoly k-12 is idiotic and a majority of taxpayers know it and want it ended. Trump and Pence are committed to reform. Democrats are opposed. Fight is raging. Hope the democrats lose it. I've been paying private schools bills for over a decade btw. Kid's school operates at below 50% of nat'l average $/kid and score 94 percentile on standardized testing.
