** Scott Frost megathread all things SF***

I don't think Frost will take the job.  I also think he knows that this is probably his only chance to take it but I still don't think he takes it.

Man people are going to get super disappointed when Frost doesn't accept the job. Not saying he will do that but I could seriously see him staying at UCF for a 3rd year. As long as he keeps things rolling at UCF he will be in high demand. We better have a Damm good plan B
I feel the same way. I just don't think Frost comes back 'home' to coach. And I am not sure who would come here to coach at this point...the doubt in their minds that if they don't do well right away they will be fired will be strong. The decisions of the past are definitely haunting the program right now!

I would accept hiring Del Monte and then bringing in Patterson as a Plan B. Or a Plan A, for that matter. Anyone actually expecting that will probably be disappointed, too, but hey.

When your local paper is running practice reports on a program half way across the country in a different conference .........
How great would it be to see Frost running UCF's scout team?  That is awesome.

I don't have a clue what Frost is thinking.  But if he does come back, the Huskers will be back almost immediately.  If he doesn't, I doubt the Huskers will ever be back.

I'm also not religious.  But I'm praying for Frost to come back.

Help me Obi Frost Kenobi, you're my only hope!

Maybe the most ridiculous thing I've read yet.

That would be great if we could land him. Both Frost and Del Conte/Patterson are gambles in the sense they may turn us down though. We need a few legitimate canidates to go after and we have to get it right

The Star Wars part or the true part?
Not true at all. First of all, we will be fine if we don't hire Frost. If we do hire Frost you better tamp those expectations down. Frost will take his bumps and we won't be back immediately unless you mean back to winning 9 or 10 games.

I was all on board with Frost becoming our next head coach until he made an account on huskerboard and started referring to himself in the 3rd person.

We don't need that kind of arrogance and narcissism in our humble, blue collar state!

I realize this is a joke, but I can say I've personally met Scott Frost. Me and some former teammates met him working out at the stadium. He approached us, said hi, shook all our hands. We were all little school girls meeting this legend.

You couple that with his success as a coordinator, his passion for the game, and his Nebraska ties. If the only thing Mike Riley has going for him is being nice, than we can't do any worse with Scott Frost...

Exactly....

I’m getting on the Frost train as much as other people. However, this belief that it’s Frost or we should just close the program because no way will we ever be able to get a good coach is just stupid.

Its a a pretty pathetic idea that Frost is the only savior of husker football in the world.

What about Oregon DC Jim Leavitt? He wants another chance at a head coaching job and specializes in the 3-4. We would definitely need to nail the OC hire.

I prefer Frost, just speculating.
Leavitt is a strong likelihood of being the next Kansas State head coach.

Talked with a well connect TCU alum last night at our game... he said no way in hell would Del Monte come here... loves it at TCU.  No booster crap to put up with, no money pressure,  enjoys it down there.. and remember, Patterson turned down Texas job, loves it at TCU too. I think that TCU connection train has left the station- but who ever knows

Simply too unproven for me. I love Nebraska guys. But if the answer to the question "Would this guy be considered if he wasn't a Nebraska alum?" is no, im going to pass.

Same applies to Trev.

I will be VERY disappointed if we end up with the Trev/Frost combo.
Honestly, if you would take away his name and just listed Frost's accomplishments in his playing and coaching career, I think he has a great resume for a prospective coaching hire.  I think people try to check too many boxes when saying "I think they should go after this coach...". Simply put, the best coaches tend to have been hired with some risks. You just got to be willing to go for the home run hire.

Yep I'm right with you. Really like Frost and I think he could do well here next season, but it's still an uphill battle to winning our conference no matter who our coach is. At this point we need to see winning the west as a big step forward. From there we can move on to being "back". I think there are plenty of guys who can take us there, but there are a lot more who can't. We need to avoid those ones this time around.
