** Scott Frost megathread all things SF***

Bianchi forgot to mention that SF's running backs coach, Ryan Held, played for NU as a WR from 94-97, and NU gave him 3 NC rings. Barrett Rudd is a quality control guy (semi-legal extra coach) for SF and we all know his Nebraska legacy. SF's Director of football operations, Gerrod Lambrecht, went to high school with Scott and played football for Concordia in Seward. SF's Strength Coach, Zach Duvall, was an assistant strength coach at Nebraska from 1997 to 2002.Yep, SF's staff would have more interest in landing at DONU than most. Its a factor that gives NU an advantage and one that probably makes Bianchi a bit nervous.
Holy ****, I should've done some homework on his staff! I'd say that changes things a bit.............

That's my issue with Jessica saying Frost is a great recruiter.. If he was, he would have more than 10 4*'s in 7 years at Oregon when Oregon was at it's peak and the rest of the pac 12 was mediocre
But at the same time look at what Oregon, Frost and their coaches did with coaching their players. You're saying they should have had better recruiting classes, but Oregon had their run with mediocre recruiting classes and having the skills to coach their players up and had players that ran a certain system that worked really well. Mariota was a 3* recruit. Oregon's current QB who is hurt right now, but is pretty good was I think a 3* recruit. Oregon had a ton of 3* recruits that helped create that run. So although maybe there is an argument Frost and Co should have recruited better during their peak years at Oregon, one could argue they did a fantastic job of coaching players up.

Everyone needs to relax including me about this Florida firing. Frost isn't going to take the Florida job in the middle of the season. He's going to finish the season at UCF before he starts worrying about what his next step might be if for anything for the team. There is ZERO way he's not going to wait and see what Nebraska is going to do. There hasn't been more perfect timing for him and us to try and make this happen. I agree it would be swell for Nebraska to come out and announce that Riley is retiring so Frost knows where we stand as a program if he does end up being our #1 target. That way we can begin to try and make moves as a program a little easier.

At least this is what I keep telling myself today.....................

This is what some alcoholics would call a "moment of clarity".

People need to chill the F out. If it happens, it'll happen.

Please Scott, if you’re reading all of this, come back to us! We have our hopes up for you and will give you time. You have the passion and personality we want! You are a Husker! GBR!

I went to the Sharp and Benning podcast a few minutes and listened to the part where Shart was talking about Frost and Florida. All he did was quote that guy from ESPN Radio from Saturday morning and flat out lied "and other media people are now saying the same thing this morning." I know the last part is false since I searched it a little while ago.

SMH.

Yeah, I'm also getting tired of the Orlando Sentinel becoming Frost's official PR team. I don't think they have any clue how much Scott Frost loves this state, the football program, and the fans and how could they? He isn't going to publicly profess his love and desire for this football program until he's introduced as the 33rd HC. He is and always will be my favorite all-time player.

The adversity. To come back from being booed out of Memorial Stadium. He's a guy who is the total package and he's taken it on the chin from our fans and the media before and what did he do? He kept his mouth shut, continued to practice hard, workout harder, play harder and brought the hardware back to Lincoln like a boss. That's a f#$+*& warrior of a leader for you and not to mention a blue collared Nebraskan.

That mentality is what our football team desperately needs right now. It needs to trickle on down through the entire team, staff, and players. That's when great things will begin to happen again. I do think we need to be careful that just because the turnaround at UCF was quick, doesn't mean we'll see the same results at DONU if he comes here.

It will take time. Especially in the B1G. I was willing to give Riley more time but at this point, I've seen enough to know where our program is headed and that is to the dumps under his leadership or lack thereof.
Great post.  But I would like to point out that he didn't really get booed out of the stadium.  I was at the game.  The boos were audible, but not that many people were booing.  It was mostly a few drunk students.

But at the same time look at what Oregon, Frost and their coaches did with coaching their players. Oh I totally agree that Frost can identify talent and potential even if the kids don't have the stars to match. I do think Frost is a great coach and developer of players. I'm good with 3*'s being molded into quality and high end starters and I think we can win the West with that model. But I'd love to see what he can do with top talent like a Micah Parsons, Bookie, Isaah Crocker, Josh Moore, TJ Pledger, etc. Those kids are game and program changers with the right coach and development.

All I know is Aaron Taylor and Jay Foreman said Frost would take the job if offered.

And Ahman Green said he wouldn't.

It's not that impressive when you consider the fact he was at Oregon for 6-7 years and he had 10 4*'s at a program that was dominating the Pac 12  and a top 10 program at the time.

It's still plenty impressive, or at best inconclusive. It wasn't his team, or his recruiting philosophy, and Oregon was never a school with great recruiting classes. At worst, he was par for the course with a staff that rattled off 4 straight years of conference championships/Rose Bowls/national championship appearances.

"Im pretty sure we have.  TO is the "secret" in the secret sauce that will get Frost here.  If Frost wants to come...."

what?!! Haha ... if Frost "wants to come", then TO shouldn't be needed. And if TO is needed and is the secret sauce to luckily landing him, then that would mean Frost isn't as interested as everyone on here would like to think he is. This FROST BEING NEBRASKA's SAVING GRACE is causing people to say some crazy ridiculous stuff that doesn't make sense what so ever.
Not saying he is the saving grace.  I, like most fans, want what's best for NU.  Period.  End of discussion.  In 2015 I thought Riley was wrong and even more so now....

Frost, IMO, checks the block.  You are correct that Frost will go where he wants.  TO is a conduit to Frost that no other university has.  Frost has said repeatedly how much he respects TO.  no doubt, if he is offered the job, Frost and TO will communicate.  Might be at the request of NU or Frost simply calling a trusted friend and getting advice.

If t comes down to UT, UF or whom ever, TO could possibly be the deciding factor.  Of course his honest opinion might also have Frost look elsewhere....

When your local paper is running practice reports on a program half way across the country in a different conference .........

Exactly! And if it isn't Frost and some other name that comes in, whoever that is will already be "behind the 8 ball" and have one helluva hill to climb in some folks eyes, because Frost was tagged by them as the saving grace of this program before the job has even opened. I like Frost, I hope like hell it works out and he's the #1 candidate if/when the job opens, but if he's not we need to see who is mentioned with the job as well as Frost to see where we stand. And WE ALL NEED that coach to be the right hire and a good coach to get this program back on track.

Wow.  I just took a look at UCF's results against the spread this season.  They've won against the spread every game, averaging over 20 points per game above the betting line!

Their worst performance was against East Carolina when the spread was -35 and they only won by 43.

They are -8 against Navy today.  Go Knights!

Oct 14, 2017Won 63-21 vs East Carolina-3570WO
Oct 7, 2017Won 51-23 at Cincinnati-1552.5WO
Sep 30, 2017Won 40-13 vs Memphis-5.568.5WU
Sep 23, 2017Won 38-10 at Maryland+561.5WU
Aug 31, 2017Won 61-17 vs Florida International-1756WO

I'm Frost.  I have my team ranked at #18 with some speculating I can have a New Years Bowl and possibly play spoiler in the play offs.  I need my kids focused and committed.  I don't need them worrying about what if scenarios or losing focus thinking I might be leaving (along with my entire staff).  I need them focused so if I do leave, they go out on top....

What do people expect Frost to say.  It's all rumors until it isn't.  The last thing I would be doing is talking about a job that isn't even open and look like an a$$ to my kids and future recruits...  I respect Frost for not even engaging in the rumors.  Riley is still here.  Rumors swirling does he stay or go.....Who knows.  I hope Riley wins out as it benefits the Huskers.  (DOESNT MEAN I WANT HIM AS COACH).  I'd love Frost, but until Riley is fired and both seasons are over, unsure how much will really come out...

Finally some info from the most reliable insider on the message boards for TN football. This guy is the most legit insider for TN forums by far. His post is below my comments.

Patterson - don't see it happening.

Gruden - Well, I guess they are pushing for it. The owner of the Browns is letting him use his private jet moving forward from today and through next week as needed. That is not normal for how they do things (the owner and Gruden). Taggart? Would be surprised but not shocked. Durkin? I guess if they fail to land others.

Just_a_vol (247 insider): The next coach will be one of - Gruden Mullen Patterson Taggart Frost Durkin
He sure went out on a limb there...

I am a Riley fan but see the writing on the wall. I hope Frost comes home just to set the UCF board aflame.

Can we all agree that Husker fans trolling on a UCF message board is pretty lame?  The few I have seen have a combined IQ of about 40.  They are making our fanbase look pretty stupid.

Are you saying Sharp lied or the ESPN guy lied?

And.....you know he lied because you did a quick google search?  The phrase you put in quotation marks could mean everything from other national media to some obscure football blogger in his basement.

It is something a fan would hope for, but not very realistic in the business world.
I don't disagree.

I think there are already back channel behind the scenes things going on anyway.  An adult modern version of check yes if you think Scott is cute.  Put an x in the box if you could see yourself working for the Moos.

Nothing ifficial that that would make either side look bad.

It's not that impressive when you consider the fact he was at Oregon for 6-7 years and he had 10 4*'s at a program that was dominating the Pac 12  and a top 10 program at the time. So on average he grabs 1 maybe 2 4*'s each year. I say it's not impressive because it's not like he is out there bringing 4 star talent into UCF now and when he was bringing in high level recruits it was very limited when he was at a school winning 10-11 games each year...

I'm not hating on him here at all. I think he has an eye for talent even when a kid doesn't have the stars to match. My concern, and original point, is 1) that he would probably choose Tennessee over Neb because it is easier to recruit the talent and type of players Frost needs in his system and 2) to those people saying he is our savior and going to bring us a B1G/ National title.. even if he does come to Nebraska there's not a lot of promise or history to show that he can stock us up on talent to compete with Ohio St, Michigan and Penn St let alone Bama, Clemson or other top 10 schools.

I love Frost and think he is one hell of a coach. I would love to see him at Nebraska. I think he would make our team tough, mean and disciplined like we were in the 90's. I'm just expressing my concern with calling him our saving grace.
Frost had 2 years of experience of being a paid coach prior to Oregon. That was at FCS Northern Iowa. I'm sure he didn't have a lot of inroads to the west coast at the time he moved to Oregon. Building relationships with HS coaches is a big part of recruiting. Oregon never really was a powerhouse when it came to recruiting. Non-P5 schools don't typically get 4* recruits. The only example I can think of is Houston when Herman was there.

IMO there's no way Frost goes to Tennessee. If recruiting is that big of a deal to him and Nebraska is out, I'd imagine he waits for a Florida/UCLA/USC type job to open up.

I don’t agree. The UCF fans I’ve seen have ventured on to Husker boards to tell us how irrelevant we are because frost would rather stay at UCF. How most coaches would rather be at UCF than NEB. Ect.

I would think fains/people expect him to say nothing, or at most, that he's focused on his current job and is happy with it.

Hence, take this thread for what it is...A discussion forum on a topic many of us are interested in, not journalism.

We should all realize that every news media member, message board poster, street corner panhandler, or backyard preacher are fibbers unless they say "SCOTT FROST SAYS HE WANTS THE NEBRASKA JOB AND WILL COME IF IT IS OFFERED"  Anything short of that and these people are just spreading #FakeNews and telling lies.

Yes he quoted the ESPN radio guy. He described his profile exactly on tee. I know the second part is false since I looked at the Florida websites this morning. If there was anything breaking news it would be all over there with their insiders and/or media people. What did I find this morning when visiting their websties? Literally nothing new.
