** Scott Frost megathread all things SF***

With the early signing period in December that isn't feasible.  Gotta hit the ground running to keep the recruiting class together.
What exactly recruiting class do we have that is so coveted we must keep? The players that are committed to Nebraska for Nebraska will stay committed, the players committed to Riley and his staff will leave anyways, and quiet frankly, I wont be too upset with that.

No. There are two reliable Florida posters. One on their 247 webiste that hasn't posted since the Friday night when he broke news of McElwain getting fired on Sunday (also broke news about the legal stuff before anyone else knew) and their Rivals poster.
Are they posters or actual journalists?

Kind of an odd statement in a thread with 84 pages about a guy who isn't a Husker coach.

My original comment on this subject was written because I had asked many pages ago if Frost called his own plays.  The speculation was that Frost did in fact call the plays.  I contemplate these questions because, if in fact, Frost is hired, the question becomes then, who does he bring with him?  So.....if he doesn't call plays at UCF and this guy is NOT brought with him, then there is a possible change in how the offense would be called here.  Now, I know Frost called plays at Oregon, so I'm not concerned about it.  But, if Frost has his OC call plays at UCF, I would assume he would have his OC call plays at Nebraska.  AND...if this guy does not come with him.....then......it becomes extremely important as to who he hires as an OC at Nebraska.

So.....no.....I really couldn't care less if this guy wins this award.  However, it does pertain to how the staff could fall into place if Frost was hired.

All I said was that i was unaware that to win the award that calling plays was required.  That's it.

And furthermore, I don't care what coach we have or how plays are called as long as they are winning plays.

I'd say there are quite a few kids that Nebraska has committed that other programs would like.  For the players that remain committed you're going to want to lock them up in December.  That's going to require face time.

Who would pay $8,100,000 for a sub .500 coach?

Yeah, all those contracts have "offset lanquage" that if he gets a new job, the old contract gets reduced by that amount.  So, if Florida would hire Chip for $6.5M per year, the 49ers wouldn't be on the hook anymore, because that per year deal is greater than the 49ers deal.

But, why would Chip come back to coaching for anything less than $7M if he didn't have to?
Don't know much about him, you couldn't fit some of these guys' egos into an airport hangar. If he was to come back, it's probably because he was close, but didn't get a ring in Eugene, and things went to total crap in the NFL. If these kinds of guys get a chance to rectify past failures, they normally take it, as they definitely don't want their career to end with such a thud.

If memory serves, you were then shown Tennessee's last decade of recruiting rankings and how they usually rank in the Top 15ish and then the discussion was over. Apparently for everyone but you...

That was a poor attempt by another poster to try and make TN look so easy to rercuit to that a monkey could do it.

The guy that wrote that article yesterday said it is hard to recruit to TN on 1620 today. I guess that guy is incompetent for some posters around here.

Severe said that if Frost were to come to NU, Locksley will be headed to Lincoln, as well.  If Lee were to go pro, that would be a decent QB competition with Locksley, POB, and Gebbia (assuming all of them stay).

So how do people feel about the prospects of our current QBs? It's safe to say that we don't currently have a Scott Frost on the team (lol), but could one of them fill a Joe Ganz-ish role?

Would love Gilmore at WR but I doubt he would leave Wisconsin where he has it very good now.  I believe he also just got another raise this past season and added the Pass Game Coordinator title.

But, why would Chip come back to coaching for anything less than $7M if he didn't have to?

Because he loves coaching and the 49ers contract only pays him through 2019.  So, if he can get into a place like Florida with the talent they have available and be successful, even with the off set language in the contract, long term he is set to make a lot more.

First, a poster using vulgar language does not make it acceptable for another poster to use similar language.

Second, I had no idea tfree had posted that word, that you had posted something or what the word(s) meant. Both posts have been moved to offending posts.

Third, the mods are not omnipotent. Reporting posts is the only surefire way to have someone evaluate the content.

I was just joking. People have been mocking the “circle j**k” about Frost for dozens of pages now. So I was just playing on the same theme and trying to be funny. Sorry to offend.

Why would this board eat me alive? I would just laugh at the crazies who think he is not good and other dumb stuff people say for their anti Frost talking points.
Because you've made it a point to say you're right about how much he should be offered, how great he is as a coach, and I'm pretty sure you've said he's for sure coming here somewhere I just can't remember where I've seen that. So you tell me why they wouldn't eat you alive?

I'm high on Gebbia. I think he just has some special talent and leadership abilities.  I'm not sold on POB, but he has enough mobility to make it work in a Scott Frost offense.  His running style is too "lumbering" for my taste, but he can move well enough.

you think those stars are going to line up, really?
No, not really.  Just a "what if" scenario.  So many seem to be in the "Frost or Bust" frame of thought (I am almost there myself to be honest) that I wondered if folks would endure another suck year to get Frost if it was a "sure" deal.  Of course, there are no sure deals, ever.

Chip took over a winning program and kept it winning.  Will he take a dumpster fire of a team and make winners?  Maybe.  But, he's not a fit here.  Sorry.  I guess i am one of the crazy ones.

Chip averaged 47 points per game as the head coach at Oregon. That is elite offense.

Scott Frost is averaging 48 points per game this season (48.5555555555555)

Crazies and anti Frost?  I don't think there is anyone on here that is anti Frost.  No winter without it.  Sorry wrong frost.  I think everyone on this board would accept Coach Frost if he is hired.  Some think he maybe a little young yet, some think he won't come here, some may have someone above him, but no one is against Scott Frost.  He is our hero, a legend and appears to be a great coach.  Why would anyone be against him if he is hired.  The bandwagon will be so full, and 99.9 will say they are glad it happened.  I think you are reading the board wrong.

I dont want to say I have a source because I know everyone thinks it is a lie. So I will just say I have a really good feeling we offered Frost $5 million per year and are probably negotiating terms. Those dang gators probably offered him a little more than us before we made our first offer.

Are they posters or actual journalists?

Not journalists. Two people who will post real info before it goes public. They rarely ever post. The guy on 247 is a former Florida player. How he got info about the firing nobody was able to figure it out but they suspect he works at the school. If that guy ever posts about Forst to UF then I will get worried. Not a single post from that person since he leaked out the McElwain firing.

FWIW....TN job still will not be open this week according to their media people.

WOuldn't shock me if they keep him for another year if they beat Kentucky on Saturday.

I've seen enough. You're a legitimate troll. There's just nobody that would actually believe the stuff you're saying.

Frost calls the plays. He will even say when he made a stupid call when talking about the games he coaches.

I take from Coach Osborne that he is totally comfortable with Scott's upside.  For me, the interview/story of Frost and Osborne leaves no doubt that Osborne believe Scott is gonna do well as a head football coach.  Good for Scott.  Wish him all the best in his coaching career and in life.

Is that to hypothetically say that we offered less initially and this is a second offer to beat the gators offer?

We get it, but the teams Oregon played against aren't the same teams UCF are playing against. Completely different level of teams. I am not saying his offense isn't good. I'm saying you're comparing apples to oranges a little bit.

I hope this is true.  On record as not wanting Leach.  Too much air it out....Talk about really having to go out and find new players IMHO...

I just hope we land Frost, because I don't see us accomplishing much with Matt Campbell (if he's our backup plan). Can someone explain to me what's so great about him?
Campbell needs another year at ISU to see if this season was just a fluke for them or if it's because he's a good coach. It sounds like he was a good coach at his last destination, but it's really hard to tell at this point. Too much of a gamble for me personally to go after him, Nebraska can't afford a gamble, this HAS to be a for sure bet or we just better hope we get lucky.

That or he/she is doing it on purpose to get a rise out of the board and create waves. If the latter is correct then I have no doubt that'll sort itself out over time. I agree I haven't seen anyone come out and be completely against Frost coming here as the coach.

I honestly think he would try to go get a JUCO kid, a high school kid, and a senior transfer. Whether he gets any of those 3 isn't something we can answer, but I can see him going down that path.

Gebbia threw plenty of vertical routes in high school but he was never used much as a speed option, diamond formation, PO, type of schemes. IMO POB will transfer and Lee enters the NFL Draft and gets at most a tryout.

I have to disagree here. I fully believe if Oregon wouldn't have thought the Auburn RB was down when he actually landed on the an Oregon defender and they would have finished the tackle, Auburn wouldn't have been able to be in position to kick the game winning field goal. It was a low scoring game even though both teams had a bunch of yards. I think Kelly and his style of offense could be successful. If you remember Nick Saban absolutely hates Kelly's style of fast paced offense and it's because it is extremely hard to stop!

My point is that their vaunted offense struggled against auburn in a single game. Helfrichs Kelly built squad playing his offense got squashed by an SEC caliber OSU club in the title game. I look on that and wonder how successful it will be in the meat grinder that is the SEC. I could see it working well. But I could also see them getting man handled. I'm not sure, it will be fun to watch if it happens for sure
