So then NU counters with more.  That was hard.
No, it was impossible.  He is getting 10% more from UCF period.  UCF has one major bargaining advantage over NU - time is on their side.  They can wait much longer than we can.  If we offer 35 million over 7 years, they will offer 38.5 over 7 years.   To say they can't compete money wise may not be true.  They are located in middle of the most valuable and lucratice and traveled destination on the planet.   Millions of people a year spend many billions in Orlando area on Disney and the other 35 parks and thousands of other attractions.   The UCF program will grow exponentially under a big time coach (assuming they believe Frost is that good - they may not but apparently NU fans think so).

UCF may well just offer Frost 10% more than whatever NU offers.   Hard to compete with that.

If serious, you haven’t been paying attention. Not only do we literally have billions sitting in our endowment, the AD doubled their annual income this year since we’re fully vested in the B1G now.

Money is *NOT* an issue, and the buyouts are chump change compared to what we’ll be getting from the B1G going forward.

I didn't know money spent at Disney went to the UCF athletic program?

They aren't breaking the bank to retain him, they can't.

Pretty sure he is joking...

If only

Vacation destinations mean nothing here. The fact they don’t sell out their stadium or have lucrative boosters are what hurts them.   Enough said on this terribly bad argument.

I can't agree.  UCF can't even fill a stadium which is half the size of ours.  They just don't have the fan base.

I am not joking in any way.   No, the money spent at Disney does not directly go there but the University is presumably a tax supported institution.  Unlike NU, most all athletic departnments get big chunks of their money / support from tax payers and other revenues.  Of course, tickets, bowl money, etc is something new to UCF and so their budget will see dramatic influx with new found success and popularity.  Frost is worth a lot of money to UCF too.

If Frost fills half the empty seats for 7 games a year more than they are now selling, and winning and becoming a top 15 program will create lots of new found interest in a population area of millions, then he will be worth far more than his salary bump.

Actually, Frost may be worth more to UCF, on paper and in the bank account, than he is in Lincoln, unless you believe Nebraska can't sell out the stadium with some other "new' HC, and only Frost can magically do so, then maybe NU is wiser, financially, to hire someone cheaper.   That has been the analysis in the past as we've been selling out without spending the mega bucks .

Do you really think UCF can pay more than NU can?

We all know UCF cant compete money wise with Nebraska on the offer. I think at this point the decision is more than just about the money.

Is It? How will they come up with the money to offer 10% above the Huskers for salary and assistant coaching pool? There is no way they have the cash to outbid us.

I think with the current B1G tv deal alone we win in a bidding war.  The reality is they "have time on their side" but it eventually becomes the law if diminishing returns....With all of the hirings and firings going on this weekend, our list of 6 or so, will get pared down quickly.  If Frost is our guy, you go all in an call....They can only  counter so much.....

Yeah, there is a ZERO percent chance that UCF outbids us. In fact it may be a -5% chance. The only thing now is do I stay with the program that made me, or do I make my assistants rich and try to win a National Championship at a school that he loves and will show him love.
