Shameless Request for the Spring Game

I've been having a PM conversation with HotGrillOnGrillAction, who has the BEST username on HuskerBoard, about getting together a tailgate for the Spring Game. We're going to have a "HuskerBoard" tailgate, invite everyone from the board who can make it, and have a grill-off - which won't be any kind of contest, of course, since this guy competes and I'm just Joe Backyard Griller.

So here's my request list:

Does anyone have or know of a spot we can host this? I think most lots are first-come, first-served for the Spring Game, with the exception of Lot 8 (the old Lot 20).

Does HuskerBoard have any kind of banner that says "HuskerBoard?" If so, would you guys mind if I borrowed it to hang at the tailgate? This would presume you'd be OK having the actual name associated with this event.

Are there t-shirts or any kind of HuskerBoard propaganda material we could have - a small amount, I'm not trying to break the bank - to give to members who show up? Like the first three or five people get a t-shirt, or a koozie, or whatever?

I haven't told anyone that I was going to request this stuff, so if it's not feasible nobody will know/care. Just getting together with the guys is fun enough, so please don't feel like there's any pressure for any of this to happen.

Lance, if I'm recalling correctly, years ago Eric and Chad had a couple of tailgates and they had, I believe, a HuskerBoard banner. Plus, I think Chad has quite a lot of tailgate games - and probably a few extra t-shirts for gifts. What I recommend is that you email both Chad and Eric and ask.

Does that mean I'd have to let Chad and/or Eric come? 'Cause.... I don't know....

I don't know if you want to do pre-existing t-shirts or make some new ones. Anyway...

Also, I'd love something like this to happen. I didn't know that one was happening for the PSU game or I'd have stopped by for a bit. Spring Game seems like the perfect time, in my opinion, because people aren't as focused/worried about the actual game since it's just a scrimmage.

We have had them in the past. We teamed up, sort of, with huskermax, in the past one time. We never get the attendance we would expect.

The spring game sounds great, but what happens if it's 45 degrees and windy...no one will come. Now if it's 65 and sunny..we then, you have a chance.

It's a lot of work while you take a pretty big risk of it not working.

We do have a couple banners we made. One is hanging in my basement that we all sign when we watch the game there and win.

By no means am I saying no, but your taking a big chance many people you have never met follow through and attend.

We have had a few good small ones though...USC in so cal was killer, so was the one when I met former fan. Haha

This looks pretty f'ing killer though

As far as the tailgate goes... I get your point, Eric. PaulCrewe (Mike something) and I held one for Penn State, and we made a ton of food and four guys besides the two of us showed up. It was windy as hell and we were way the heck outside the normal areas where people tailgate. I ended up taking home about 20 brats, and I wasted a huge can of beans. Crewe was stuck with a bunch of chicken, and we both dropped about $100 into the project.

So there are risks. But I'm willing to do this, if it's OK. And we don't need t-shirts, or even a banner. That was just an off-the-top-of-my-head idea. No worries if that doesn't work out.

The idea is not totally dead. Can you wait to see where we are at after the holidays before we commit money. If we have a good holiday retail season. We can possible do this. Hold tight and please feel free to check in with reminders to me.
