I think it takes some sort of flash. Step away from the ledge, NOW.the real question is, if the shoe changes when you take a picture of it, how do they get the 'before' picture of the shoes? mind = blown.

No, I just didn't know what you were talking about. I wouldn't diss you for Hunger Games (I've never read it).oh, mr. appletini and brony extraordinaire is giving me the business over a hunger games reference.
Not to be pedantic, but I think it happens in direct light. So it would happen at any distance given a strong enough light source, or a certain filter (maybe like polarized sunglasses?). Which also explains why they appear dark grey in some photos, since certain parts of the shoe are receiving the right angle of light.OK, so it's some sort of coating on the shoes that reflects enough light to get picked up by close range flash cameras.
They should have put that coating on the black helmets, so it went back to the regular white helmet/red N in close photos.
My guess is unless a photographer decides to snap some close-ups of players feet from a close distance, you won't see this effect in any shots taken using those zoom lenses.
no worries, i have never read it either. i did see the movie. i was trying to be funny. i'm sorry. No, I just didn't know what you were talking about.
