Terrible time to call a creative play like this.
Man! If only we had super creative play calling like this today!

If only he had gotten cute today! Could’ve been way different!Funny how no one wants to fire Satterfield for "getting cute" on plays like this.
C’mon Z! I mean, did you even see this super creative play?!Against teams with a pulse we've never scored more than 28 points offensively, and that would be Colorado this year! This clown needs to be gone by the end of the week.
Most of you gave him his chance, and that's respectable. I think today told you all you need to know. Satterfield is garbage.

He has some great plays in his playbook but I think he sucks as an in-game play caller. He doesn't have a flow or set plays up well. You can't see the routes on TV but it feels like we don't really have any good concepts in the passing game out side of mesh plays in the red zone.C’mon Z! Lincoln RileyProbably already been answered, but legit, who would we realistically replace him with? I'm fine with showing him the door, his attack is one of the most pedestrian and predictable I've ever seen.
I think the zone calls are a huge part of it. He does mix in power from time to time by pulling a lineman and tightened, but when it works he never seems to come back to it until it's too late. I've said it over and over now the last 3 games Dowdell needs to sit except for short yardage situations. He absolutely cannot run in a zone heavy offense.I don't think it's in-game play calling nearly as much as the staff really didn't figure out a way to maximize what we could do in the run game in general. This feels like 2017 Mike Riley levels of rushing failure from this game.
We come into this game against a good team. We run these slow zone rushing handoffs to Dowdell in the first half that just do nothing. Dowdell doesn't fire off his mark when he takes the ball, he doesn't hit the hole hard, and he doesn't have good moves & vision.
I'd just really love to see what's happening in practice & in scrimmages that got us to this point today.
I thought we were going to see quite a bit of under center stuff. We aren't doing much pulling with our linemen, and for as big of a deal as it was for so many that Rhule brought back the fullback last year, we aren't seeing those kinds of lead blockers as much this year.
The staff failed to get the entire offense into a position where we could maximize our ability to run and I do think that falls on Satterfield, but it also falls heavily on Rhule.
This is the other head banger, even in our wins. Our strength is actually designed runs off tackle with anyone in the backfield or on jet sweeps. Which is wild given the performance of our tackles the last few years. But we run want to run inside zone all the time...He actually had a great adjustment on our touchdown drive where he stopped with the vanilla handoffs up the middle and instead went with quick hits to the edges of the field. He's had moments where he's had us looking good this year.
