Husker Journal. Looking forward to Miller being a solid contributor.
JUNE 21, 2012. ALL TEAMS MESSAGE BOARDS GABRIEL MILLER, OL, 6-0, 240, MISHAWAKA (PENN), INDIANA
"It feels great!" Says the Husker commit. "I was only up there for two days, I liked everything about it. The Campus was great, the facilities were just great."
From The Beginning
"I've talked to the coaches about a week and a half ago, they e-mailed me and I called Coach John Papuchis. They (Neb) said I was the guy they wanted but they wanted to see me snap. I came up on Saturday (6/16) morning and snapped for the coaches. Saturday Coach Bo Pelini offered me." Miller said
"Bo took me in there (his office) and brought my mom and dad. That's when he offered me. He (Bo) came in and told me I was the guy they wanted. They want me to come in as a true freshman, win the starting spot, do my job." MIller said
Lets Have Breakfast And Commit
"We actually talked to Coach Pelini there , talked to the specialist Coach John Papuchis who runs the punt team. We decided to stay over night, go back to the Hotel on Saturday night and talk about it. Then Sunday morning a breakfast we went to that's when I told Coach Bo Pelini (commitment)." Miller said
Saturday Night Lights
"The city (Lincoln) was great we stopped at a few places, the people were friendly. We took a tour of the campus it was great. At the end - Saturday night we went out on the field with the recruits and stuff. They took us out on the field the music was blaring and it was definitely cool. I loved the feel of the stadium."
Parents Approval
"If I love it they (parents) will love it. They asked a lot of questions about the major I'm looking for. Through the tour they showed us the academic part of where the football players tutored or what. I know my parents liked to see that. Coach Pelini and the rest of the staff put academics on a high standard." MIller said
Just Snap The Ball
"Snapping I will be exclusively - long snapping. So it will be on punts, extra points and field goals. Miller said"
"You know I don't get nervous. My mom and dad, when Coach Pelini came out saw me snap, I don't get nervous. I'm confident. I have the ability of snapping. I know as soon as I snap it, it's going to be a perfect snap. I don't ger nervous at all."
"You have to have some weight so you can go down field and make tackles. So it's a lot of practice. I can snap fast and I'm accurate and run down field and make a tackle." MIller commented what it takes to be a good snapper.
A Good Work Out
"I was probably there for a hour, little more than a hour. I did quite a bit of snapping, I would take an estimate about 50 snaps. The coach had me snap for 15 yards which is a punt, some PAT's and field goal snaps. They had me do some running a little bit, a agility course. They put bags out about 40 yards for me to tackle, show my speed." Miller said
Miller said he has been working out with Chris Rubio's Long Snapping camp for about a year and a half and just gets better all the time.
"We're starting it," Miller said about his Big Red Collection. "We stopped by a couple of stores got some shirts and hats. "I'll be flying out Friday to Los Angeles with Coach Chris Chris Rubio, the Top 12 Camp, the top long snappers in the country. And I will be wearing quite a bit of Nebraska gear."
