SIGNED - OG Jalin Barnett

A liitle off topic...... I was listening to 1620 yesterday driving home. They mentioned that Bo and Stoops had a gentlemen's agreement not to go after each others recruits. Obviously if that was true , then it isn't anymore. We have gotten some good ones out of Oklahoma.

That was briefly discussed in this thread already. Here you go.

Saw a tweet about some rumor... A guy was tweeting an OU recruiting site asking if they were still aggressively pursuing him...
After following Nebraska's recruiting for a while, I have come to find this question kind of funny. Maybe I am missing something, but when was the last time that Nebraska stopped "actively pursuing" an elite (meaning highly rated) recruit who had us in their top 2 or 3. I would be surprised if they were not actively pursuing. That being said, Oklahoma does have 5 OL recruits and maybe Nebraska just hasn't been in a position where they could not take another elite prospect at a particular position since I began following. I am sure you guys will remember situations and slam me for this, so please enlighten me! haha

Callahan made a comment on the radio this morning that the coaches at Lawton, many of which have been around since the Shields/Minter days, have always let Nebraska know when they had top level talent. The coaches indicated that they had felt like there had been a lack of interest in players from Oklahoma in general.Callahan said the last player we took on Scholly from Oklahoma was Dillard's brother.
Dillard was in 2005, but the last OK recruit we got was Chris Roark in 2006. Still, your point is highlighted by the fact that we have not had an Oklahoma recruit commit since before Bo became HC. There is the theory getting floated that Bo had a gentleman's agreement with Bob Stoops to not heavily recruit in that state (nothing substantial to back that up with really, just speculation as of right now). I would also throw out the fact that from 2009-11, we signed 18 recruits (7

) from Texas, and 2012-14, 9 Texas kids (1

). With that in mind, the drop in OK may be a result, in part, of the move to the B1G.
We have offered four 2015 recruiting from Oklahoma this past year (none are slouches).

OL Josh Wariboko Oklahoma City, OklahomaCasady 6'3" 314 N/A 4 stars 5.9 5 list

OL Jalin Barnett Lawton, OklahomaLawton 6'3" 303 N/A 4 stars 5.9 7 list

DB Will Sunderland Midwest City, OklahomaMidwest City 6'2" 186 N/A 4 stars 5.9 10 Oklahoma

DB Justin Martin Miami, OklahomaNortheastern Oklahoma A&M J.C. 6'2" 192 N/A 4 stars 5.8 N/A list
And what did Bo receive in return, Stoops wouldnt recruit Nebraska kids? If this is true, Bo is an idiot. I dont think he would be that stupid, but who knows.
Like I said, this is an unfounded rumor at the moment. Here's a tin-foiled hat moment for you though, Oklahoma just offered Daishon Neal, now that Bo is gone. It's a conspiracy, man.

This is false.

He might not be showing out as well as he hoped.

...hence the reduced attention he is getting of late.

You do realize he's at an All Star game with some of the nations best. Also, some of those drills can be somewhat misleading.

Yeah I wouldnt put a lot of stock in this lone performance. Is somebody else not doing their job? Are the guys beating him just world beaters?

Olinemen are always at a disadvantage in those drills. Plus, according to the ESPN chat, all olinemen struggled at camp today. Coaches had to break up a player scuffle when a dlinemen taunted an olinemen (not Barnett).

Relax gys, srysly.

Not gonna lie, I'm not very impressed by his performance at the Under Armour All-American game. At all.

He did start for them so perhaps he looked better in practice. But he doesn't seem to have very good feet. I didn't see him ever get any push and he ended up on the ground several times. In his defense, he was often going against Tim Settle who is pretty highly-rated but even against others he didn't do anything above average. He'll be seeing some pretty good DTs at the next level as well.

Really only saw one play that was decent: he blocked to a stale mate then the ball flowed away and he maintained contact as both he and the defender moved toward the ball and he was able to get him off balance and down but it really had no bearing on the play.

His highlight was definitely the kickoff her returned for a few yards.

He must have some talent to be highly rated and some big schools after him but I can't but wonder if he isn't really developing and that's why OU and Arky backed off. Also, they get the invites to these All-Star games about a year in advance so it could be the same deal.

Was he not going to announce today…… doesn't he have a few more visits? What are our chances ? By the sounds of the guys who REALLY follow recruiting, I don't get a sense of excitement. Is this accurate?

I don't remember him every setting an announcement date. He is planning on taking a couple visits this month. We seem to be high on his list. Story was he almost committed when he visited here.

Pffffttttt. And to think we made you recruiting coordinator....

Yeah, probably wasn't the best "move" on behalf of HB…..lol

Today, Crabtree didn't rule out that he may come to Nebraska. Said it is basically down to Neb and Okie State, with Arkansas making push. Also said that distance from home was very important. He didn't want to elaborate on his home life, but said even Lincoln may be a stretch on the distance. It sounded as if Crabtree feels like Okie State is the leader here.
