They have time spent learning our offense and the technique of playing OL, not to mention learning how to deal with the physicality of the position at the college level day after day.

It's rare enough for a kid to be physically ready to play OL as a true freshman, and Tanner looks like he could be one of those physical freaks, but being mentally ready as well is a whole nother thing.

How many true frosh can you recall starting at OL for NU? Not very many and there's a reason for that.

Moore did recently due to injuries and lack of depth, but we don't lack depth at Guard currently. Fonoti did back in the day, but he was a freak of nature. I hope Tanner can force his way on the field as well, but it's extremely unlikely.
No reason it can't happen with Farmer then, right?

I know what you're saying, I just think that Farmer is going to be one of those kids that will push the players we already have. That type of competition is good for everyone.

Anything's possible, but the odds are pretty long.

I hope he does come in trying for a spot on the field and pushes the guys ahead of him. Everyone should come in with that attitude and our coaches certainly encourage it.

Living in Illinois I have seen him play football multiple times and I have seen him wrestle as well. Physically he is as strong and gifted as anyone on the team the second he walks thru the door. Im not even that worried about his footwork as he is a good athlete from wrestling. I think the adjustment for Tanner will be knowing and understanding the playbook and different checks at the line of scrimmage, technique and things of this nature. Once he gets adjusted to this and he goes out there and plays rather than thinking about it he will blossom. I dont think he is going to start but I would be suprised by the time conference play rolls around you dont here his name come up in discussions about playing time.
