(6/22/2010) News 5 Sports - Hello, Bo Pelini and Hello Barney Cotton. That is what St. Cecilia lineman Zach Sterup has already said to the Huskers. The Bluehawk all–state player has chosen Nebraska among the 13 scholarship offers he received.
Last week, Zach told News 5 he had narrowed his choice to Iowa and Nebraska before picking the Big Red Tuesday.
It was somewhat of a surprise, because Notre Dame was thought to be in the picture.
Another surprise is that he made the decision so soon since he told us he would make his decision at the end of the summer, not now.
Zach, who plays both offensive and defensive lines, still has his senior season to play at St. Cecilia as the Bluehawks will try to win another state title this year in Class C–2 after capturing the C–1 Championship last year.
He will strictly be an offensive tackle at Nebraska.

LINCOLN — Nebraska will head into Big Ten football in 2011 with an offensive lineman who easily could have landed elsewhere in the conference.
Hastings St. Cecilia senior-to-be Zach Sterup has accepted an NU offer and will sign with the Huskers in February, according to his mother, Mary.
Sterup already had offers from Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota. The Hawkeyes were the first to offer the 6-foot-8, 260-pounder a few months ago.
Sterup becomes the Huskers' 12th commitment for 2011, including their fifth offensive lineman and third in-state recruit. Mary Sterup said her son, who attended NU's summer camp to weeks ago, called assistant coach Barney Cotton and told him the news Friday.
