SIGNED QB Bubba Starling

Yea, I think Bubba is very raw passing but is immensely physically talented. The size/speed combo is rare and the arm is powerful, even if he is behind the ball on passing. It is kind of how people talked about Pryor though, but obviously Bubba is not quite as hyped. It is not as if most schools are looking at him as receiver or safety or running back or something, and he just wants a shot at QB. I think Bubba would need a redshirt year, if he came. Uninformed opinion only. His HS offense is really centered around him running.

But Bubba's the kind of guy that is he works hard to turn it on in that area, man, watch out.

I think there were some Locker comparisons made earlier in this thread. So we are talking about first round NFL QB type of potential, but obviously he will have to have a longgg way to go to get there. Physically it is just what he has to offer.
The comparison's to Locker make me cringe after seeing his two performances against us this year :) - but after seeing Josh Freeman go to the NFL I think Bubba could probably be drafted next year after Dobson puts 30 pounds on him. He HAS to be as good as Freeman already :)

IMO recruiting is turning into a "draft" type of event - where fans look at all these kids and see future stars when in reality none of them have proved a thing. I'm guilty of that often. I see Bubba and I see a TON of potential - which is about all you can ask for in recruiting. I see the same in Kevin Williams. IMO, that's what Rivals does...rank potential. 5 stars have a greater chance of succeeding than 3 stars, etc. Plenty 5 stars flop, and plenty 3 stars succeed. But, Bubba has all the physical and mental tools it takes to be a future star. What he does with those depends on his attitude/character and the coaching/oportunities he receives. I love his attitude, and know plenty of people that can affirm his character. He'll have the oportunity at Nebraska to succeed, and he seems to think Watson can coach him into something great.

In addition, he may not be a "Nebraska" guy - but he is a small town kid and has all the work-ethic type of qualities that we love to see in our home-grown guys. He's not some guy from the inner city that ran off for 2500 yards and walks around town thinking he craps gold. He's what we want in our student athletes.

cripes! In for two plays in the second half and on third and long they go back to the starting QB who throws a TD. Why the heck wasn't Starling allowed to attempt the pass?????????????????

at least Starling attempted something Martinez has failed to grasp---throw the ball out of bounds instead of take a sack. Too bad called for intentional grounding

Suh at the game!!!

Wasn't Bubba. Went back to Walsh again on third down. Bubba is only a first and second down QB obviously. There is hope for Taylor is Bubba comes here!!!! :sarcasm

Damn. Wish they would let him attempt a pass.

I'd love to see the kid get a full series at QB. Both times on third down he was lefted for the other two QB's who have been unimpressive.

Agreed!!

Bo went to his game a couple weeks ago. His high school coach is my old high school coach. It's hilarious that Deiner would say Bubba is the fastest player he's ever coached.

Considering a guy who is an all pro CB for the Cowboys named Terrence Newman was also a Deiner product. Terrence owns the 100 and 200 yd dash records in the state of KS. With times like 10.2 and 22.7 or something like that. Deiner knows how to coach HS though, he has won like 6 titles and runner up like 3 or 4 others
Not Quite.........Kansas All-Time Lists

well, guess i was way off...thanks for, uh, clearing that up for me...lol

i thought terrance owned a couple records..maybe they are from his B12 sprinting days or maybe just school records. anyway, i would put terrance up against bubba 100 out of 100
After looking at the short dashes, I couldn't help but glance at the 1 miler.. Jim Ryun, god damn insane.
