Article in Dayton news provides much the same info we've seen but includes nice pic of Cody wearing his Nebraska shirt.

"My mom and I made a trip to Nebraska back on June 16th," said Green. "I loved the facilities and the atmosphere, but the thing that most got me was the tradition - it more resembled that of [Dayton] Bronco football and I just really felt at home."

just like (i hope) a lot of us wished blaine glabbert well after he decided to de-commit and go to mizzou.

it makes no sense hatin' an 18-year-old kid because he doesn't side with 'your' school.

unless it's notre dame. then it's *completely* understandable.

...

i'm just sayin', is all.
K, then we can officially hate on Jonas Gray since he went to the Domeheads. As far as Gabbert goes, Big Red will just have to whoop up on him during his tenure like we are doing to Josh Freeman. :box :nutz :yeah

See article below...props to Coach Watson and to us...the best fan base in the country! :thumbs :corndance :woo

From Husker Journal:

JULY 10, 2008. PREP STAR

CODY GREEN, QB, 6-4, 220, 4.7, DAYTON, TEXAS

“I called Coach Watson about me committing to Nebraska, he said I made his year. Then I called Bo Pelini and he said I’m fired up and said he can’t wait until I get here.” said Green

“Both Nebraska and Texas A&M run the same offence (WCO), it’s just that a 17 year old could relate to Coach Watson and what they do. Watson was one of the main reasons why I going there.” he said

“When I went to Nebraska’s quarterback camp I met Coach Watson. He was good to work with, I could understand the terms he used. I met Joe Ganz when I was up there. You look at Joe and what he does on the field it tells you a lot what Coach Watson can do. ” said Green

“Nebraska and Texas A&M are about even but it came to fan base, Nebraska is the best, and the whole state is behind them.” he said

“I met Barney Cotton” said Green in reference to Nebraska Offensive Line coach, “He is huge, he can play football now, he can block for me.”

“I like Coach Ekeler too. He’s a lot like my coach all wired up. He is fun to be around.” He said

“At first distance was a factor. I was a little skeptical about making the trip to Nebraska. But once I got there I loved it. My mother came with me too she loved it too.”

“I called the A&M coaches they were not mad but wanted to know why Nebraska. I told them. A&M said they were still going to recruit me, but it’s done. I’m 100 percent committed to Nebraska. I’m a midterm graduate will sign with Nebraska and will be there in January.” said Green

“I’m sure a lot of people in Texas are upset that I’m not going to Texas A&M. People assume if you live in Texas you should stay in state. But I know there is more people happy now.” he said

Very astute, Mr. Green. You are absolutely correct. The whole state is very, very happy to have you aboard.

Yeah, you could say the entire state of NE is happy and Nebraskans living around the country and world are happy too. Plus you might also include the ones that are smiling in their graves(was that in bad taste?)!!!

Bobby Newcombe Puts Nebraska Behind Him

`The biggest thing working against Newcombe is his Nebraska experience
Anyone Remember Bobby Newcombes website before he signed here?
Bobby Newcombe was from the class of '97. Long before Rivals, Scout and a little bit before the internet craze in '98 and '99.

If you saw that website, you had to be a hardcore fan tracking that down.
What's Rivals?

I remember Bobby's site, vaguely..Got it from Omaha.com (OWH website).

Seems like it was www.nukem12.com or something..

I'd forgotten how

Maybe...

I doubt I could ever pay for it..Pay sites always make me feel a little dirty.

Don't need to pay neccesarily. To get the juicy info you do, obviously. But, I (and my father, actually) post on the Husker web board over there quite a bit. It's a very fun community. It's run a bit tighter than here (which some people like, some don't).
