Signed - TE David Engelhaupt

Welcome aboard.

He wants to be here. Has a good frame.... I could see him being a factor in 3 years!
NU will probably need him to be at least a contributor in 2017. NU doesn't have many TE bodies that will be around after 2016.

Redshirt this kid and get him to a position that he can add depth.

Welcome aboard David. Does anyone know if this is the first scholly player from Norfolk Catholic?
Oh no. There have been several I believe. Kevin Raemaekers back in about 1990 comes to mind. And Bill LaFleur.
La Fleur started out as a walk-on, but eventually did earn a scholarship when he became starting punter.

I had an english class with him our freshman year, and he wrote so many things about football.

He had a nice run in the NFL, too.
Thanks. Bellar was my coach back in the day. I knew he was winning a lot of championships up there but wasn't sure if he was producing D1 talent. Good coach.

This story makes me happy. Could you imagine if this was you? Ready to sign to Wyo and be grateful to be playing D1 ball and then........BOOOM!

This wasn't a last minute deal apparently. Staff wanted to offer him earlier but it sounds like they thought Allen and Fitz we're gonna sign so they didn't have the numbers.

Watched him play in the state championship game against my old high school (we won, sorry David

). Dude was a stud. It was a C-1 competition so it was very hard to tell how that translates, but the dude could catch and run very well. When I think about it, "fluid" comes to mind - seemed like a natural sprinter with the ball in his hands, and he's a big dude.

That was my question.

He had to know he was a plan B, yet still seems excited and we all welcome him.

IF Allen and David were both 3 *, I'd think we would generally prefer a guy jacked about coming to his Dream school vs. a bit of an unknown in terms of interest/commitment; unless they were significantly apart within the 3* bracketing.
