Callahan had an awesome 1-1 record in bowl games.
In one of his four seasons (05)Nebraska finished a prestigious #24 in not one but TWO polls!
Under Callahan Nebraska had an incredible 19-8 home winning record!
Callahan led NU to a nifty 7-12 away record!
Against Ranked opponents the unparalleled coaching AND recruiting talent of Bill Callahan netted Nebraska 1 amazing win and only 10 humiliating losses.Not to mention a cool 0-6 vs. Top ten opponents. Bo who???!!
He also led Nebraska to two road losses in which the opponent scored 70 points or more!
Some firsts occurred under Coach Billy C as well.
For the first time in 36 years Nebraska wasn't invited to a bowl! Coach Callahan was able to keep Nebraska from a bowl twice in his career! A feat that has yet to be matched even once! Kudos Billy!
For the first time Nebraska football players quit giving it their all during a game due to lack of motivation.
For the first time in history Nebraska had a mentally handicapped defensive coordinator, hired by Coach Callahan.
For the first time a Nebraska head football coach was the second least popular person in the state, behind the athletic director.
Recently while reading a post on this board I saw someone defending Bill Callahan. I didn't know there were Nebraska fans who existed who did such a thing, but after researching these numbers I found I was way off base. Bill Callahan was a great coach! He and Steve Pedersen both should have been given at least 5 more seasons!
