..or the SPAM generators just got lucky. Anyone else receiving a crap load of SPAM in their personal e-mail box? My Yahoo account has gotten a ton over the past 24 hours. All sent to "huskerboard.com" addresses. Ones I have seen are:

mods@huskerboard.com

chad@huskerboard.com

"Robby Leach" <mods@huskerboard.com>

admin@huskerboard.com

I'm assuming everyone else has been getting these too?

Yea, i checked my spam folder and there are a ton in there to mods and a couple to huskervideos. Not sure how I got that though.

you're lucky it's going to your SPAM folder. Mine isn't filtered so that I can receive any messages from the forum...so they're jamming up my inbox

my guess is either a) someone sold our e-mail address to the SPAM engines (unlikely ;) ) or b ) the spammers just got lucky, figured out how to e-mail the mods/admins on this site and are using every single e-mail combination to do so.

Your ISP or your mail client has absolutely NO spam filtering? I know with my ISP I had to opt in.

well, if it does, I don't know how to filter out GOOD huskerboard e-mail from BAD huskerboard e-mail.

I have Yahoo and it has a Bulk SPAM filter for obvious ones, but I don't have the huskerboard.com server filtered. I could just tell it throw all "mod@huskerboard.com" e-mails to the trash, but then I wouldn't get the good ones.

I don't know. It sounds like you guys get this a lot? This is the first time I've noticed anything like this.

I have a spam filter through yahoo. Its not very good though. I just weed through them because when someone reports a post it comes through that channel and I need to be able to get those.

 
benny, all the spam ones I got were sent right to the spam folders but I always get the good huskerboard emails so maybe switch your email over to MSN.

 
The spam filter should be smart enough to pick out the spam from the not spam independent of who it is to. The good emails from huskerboard always get through, the bad ones have been getting caught, but some occasionally get through. I don't have any special rules or anything.

I guess you are at the mercy of your ISP or email provider for spam filtering. It's a bummer.

 
Agree with Dave. My ISP is Comcast, and I have to say that I get very few SPAM emails from any HuskerBoard email accounts. I suspect that Comcast's filter takes care of that.

 
I just added Ben & a couple of the other newer mods to the list yesterday, so that would explain why it seemed to happen all of a sudden. I would hope that once your spam filter gets familiar with your patterns, it will get better at filtering. at least thats how gmail works.

Either way, I'd be happy to remove anyone from the list that would like. no hard feelings at all - the last thing I want to do is take up more of your guys' valuable time. so please feel free to let me know and I'll pull your card, like EZE.
