Split a Thread

In the thread for Patrick O'Brien in the 2016 Recruiting Class subforum, there was a debate about QB recruitment and play under Beck vs Riley/Langsdorf. This is a bit off topic and several members complained, so I split the threads, moving the comments about Beck vs Riley to a new thread.

However, there still are the posts that raise the issue of the derailing topic in the original thread, example here.

Do we leave those comments or delete them? Now that the issue has been resolved, those comments seem out of place.

I went ahead and moved those as well - before I saw this thread - except for your explanation.

I usually move everything and leave a post saying why and where, just like you did.

Thanks for cleaning that one up.

When I read the new thread with those complaint posts, it seems like the members are complaining about that topic now.

Adding to the confusion, one of the comments eludes to wanted to read about Patrick O'Brien and not appreciating the derailment, which makes no sense now that it is in the new thread.

Forgot to mention that when I split posts out to their new thread, I usually edit whichever post ends up being the first post in the new thread so that I can check the 'Edited by' box and leave a note saying that it was split off from a different thread. I think that helps avoid confusion.
