Stadium Expansion

The wind farms in Iowa have several dozen, if not a couple hundred, turbines. It's neat to see many of them together. One or two at a time... not so impressive.

Does anyone know how much higher it will go than where they are now? It will obviously go a little higher but just by walking to class today it just looks like they are making the stadium wider more than anything. I want to see some elevation!

It's supposed to be several stories taller than it is now. Here's a pic of the proposed end product:

Knapp,

According to the renderings of the grand entrance on the expand their experiance website the inscription and seals will still be visible inside the new addition.

Right, they'll be visible once you're in the facility, just like you can see the West Stadium stuff inside that building. You just can't see them from the street - except for the inscriptions, like this:

This picture just makes me in awe of the scale of this addition. I knew it was going to be pretty close to the loop and that was a good distance to cover but holy cow is this thing going to dwarf the original East stadium. The renderings just didn't do the scale justice, I'm more excited seeing the skeleton than I was looking at the drawings.

Thanks Kanpp and Corncraze for those of us who can't or are just to lazy to see it in person.

I can give daily updates from my job in Manter Hall tho!

Today a beam was raised, one grid unit up, into the middle part of the 4th section from the north. Also some dump trucks drove around and I heard a guy yelling. How's that?
Perfect! And from what I've seen walking past the site every few days, that's about all that's going on.

Some pics from this morning.

If this one looks a little funny, it's actually two pictures spliced together. On the first the cranes/sky were fine but the structure was too dark. On the second, the structure was visible but the cranes/sky were washed out.

knapp, set up a webcam damnit!
This is all tschu. I asked him to stand next to the site with a camera, taking pics every 30 seconds an uploading them to a feed, but would he? No.

He said he would have done it for Lambeau, though.

Boo! Tsss!
