Support staff for Nebraska football program

I was listening to the local radio station 1620 this morning. Damon Benning mentioned that Iowa State has a larger staff than Nebraska devoted to recruiting. This caught me by surprise. I know that Nebraska has recently put adds looking for more support staff in recruiting which is a good start. Still , it is disappointing that we are playing catch up in this area which is so important to our future success.

I included an interesting article below on how Nick Saban is utilizing a huge support staff at Alabama. For Nebraska to be better we need to evaluate all of the parts. If we can add in more staff to fill critical support roles, then this can free up more time for our coaches to do their jobs.

Mentioned this months ago. Bama has 50 recruiting specialist on their staff. Saben has worked the rule for sure, but his number is legal. We should be right there, as my guess is every SEC team is.

So by 'support staff' do you mean this?

I am assuming the link is to some young hot girl. And I would say that happens to.

But Bama has a huge recruiting department. It has been mentioned on Sirius/XM quite a bit. Saben actually was forced to cut it back some. Finebaum, calls it cutting edge. NCAA looked at it and forced some changes, but the number is close to 50 finding, screening, classifying, and prioritizing the nation, then hit by a talent group, and then talked to by a coach assigned that area of recruiting. Far ahead of what most places do. Texas has implemented some of the ideas supposedly. Would be nice for our staff to look into it.

Bo's plan was to put people in regions to be scouts. Kind of like NFL or MLB or even basketball using AAU teams. We'd have about 6 people living in their areas and then 2-4 folks to organize stuff at UNL. He got two. Which is better than nothing.

I thought this thread would be about adding fluffers to the staff to see if that would help. Ah well. I suppose it still could be, though...

The administration gave him two when he asked for six? That's terrible. Eichorst needs to fix that like NOW.

2 what exactly? 2 of the 2-4 folks organizing at UNL? Or 2 of the 6 regional scouts? 2 of everyone combined?

Sounds like a cool strategy though.

Sounds like 10 staff, 4 at UNL and 6 regional. Would be interesting to see.

That is completely on Tom is it not? Eichorst definitely needs to fix this!

There is NO reason not to have at least 15-20 staff dedicated to scouting and recruiting. We have the money. Frickin pay people and get us in the top 10 in recruiting every year. Then, there can be no excuses any more. Win or get out. We are not supporting our staff nearly enough in recruiting and the AD and Chanc'weas'ellor should be embarassed.

Given our considerable geographic disadvantage we do need more recruiting-staff. Two is a start, but not enough. Plus we still need a plane. I'd put Els and Cotton in the spots. Move Paps to LB's/ ST's or co-DC, hire a bigtime DC. Give Fisher the TE's, hire a qb-coach/ ST's or co-OC.
