Tangent Thread - 2018 Edition

Guess that's a 'no' on that warning points purge...
To be fair, I did offer the opportunity for you to continue the discussion in a different thread.  :thumbs

That said, I think this conversation was broached in the past and didn't pick up a lot of steam. There's a value in the moderator team knowing what kind of history somebody has on the board, even if it happened awhile ago.

Are you one of those folks that believes we are going to win the Natty every year too? I empathize! I used to do this kind of hypothetical stuff too until 9th grade or so...

That's all well and good, but I don't understand how one player playing against one team's defense is valid as a direct comparison to a different player playing against a different team's defense

You stated that's not how the Heisman works so I guess that means all the candidates had to have played against the same defenses and offenses.  I'm fine with your inability or unwillingness to concede there's anything reasonable to what I've written.  That believers should abort their offspring is still your greatest hit, imho.

No, I didn't. I said that I don't think your point is relevant to the Heisman trophy. I'll even backtrack that a little bit and acknowledge that stuff like that certainly influences some voters, but I didn't say anything like what you're claiming I did.

You might wanna leave politics/religion/personal attacks out of the football forum.

You’re disagreeing about Tommie Frazier. Not the fate of the universe.

My mind is blown by the meme combo

I guess it's OK to insult my intelligence, though.  Your first post to me ITT didn't go so far as Landlord's but it was still grossly unfair in light of what I try to do here.  I didn't realize quoting someone was tantamount to attacking them either.  Perhaps I've misjudged you, though, and you were recognizing that the thread I alluded to contained an ignorant attack by Landlord on us religious types.  In any case, I don't think it's at all clear what Landlord's issue is with my original comment ITT...such that I think it's fair to speculate that it's related to my questioning him over that (without him answering, iirc, though I haven't gone back there in a long while).

I don't think any of that has anything to do with... anything related to the Heisman.

How can reasoning like mine affect the Heisman vote but not be "related to" it?  That was rhetorical.

EG and the rest of his team were outplayed by TB and his when they met for their biggest game in 1995.  I thought it was fodder for the Frazier campaign then and figured it bore mentioning in this off-season Heisman thread last week.  Why this prompted you to imply I have never watched a football game is a mystery to me.

This is also something I've never done. What are you reading? Did you accidentally bounce here from a parallel universe where my posts say something entirely different than they do?

Also, there was no attack by me on 'you' religious types. I am a religious type. I've been one of the most vocal and active Christian apologists/conversationalists on this board for years.

ANYWAYS

There is no set of objective criteria for determining the Heisman. We all know what kind of (superior) player Frazier was to Eddie George, even if everyone else looks at the numbers and doesn't understand why. I think it would be fair to get rid of Crouch's Heisman and give it to Tommie instead though

You’re overreacting, you took my post entirely the wrong way, and this post doesn’t belong in the football forum any more than your previous post does. I’m not sure it should be on the board at all. Landlord is involved in lots of religious topics and doesn’t let it carry over to this forum. I find it unlikely he even remembers you were upset by his comment(s). He also was/is Christian himself.

This is where I felt you were implying I had never watched a football game:

Runningbacks and quarterbacks don't throw/run against each other. They play against the other team's defense.

As for the attack on religious types, you were wildly speculating about abortion and sharing that priests used syringes to put holy water in wombs.

If I'm overreacting now, it's because my explanation of what I thought was nothing wasn't accepted the first time.

Again, it doesn't even seem like Landlord knows what his problem with my post was.  He even admitted that people probably vote according to reasoning like what I shared so I don't know why whatever this is still has legs.

Landlord was short and rude with me so the worst I did here was return the favor.  You butted in to support him somehow.  I am not trying to make a big statement as to whether any of this defines anyone but I don't post so much that I can't remember what it is I wrote.
