Don't think this is a conservative/liberal political problem. The President just banned travel from Europe! This coronavirus is a real threat as we are not prepared to treat everyone who could become sick. As the President said we need to set aside politics and embrace the fact that we are fighting something that doesn't care about whether you're an R or D.

60,000 die annually from the common cold viruses. We dont cancel life for that which is more deadly and costly than this virus will likely ever be. People cant hibernate forever and this virus and the next one after that will be around for years and decades. The virus is not political but the media is doing all it can to politicize it. Hysteria is here and once its out there you cant put it back jn the bottle. Cancel the NBA season? Close colleges and schools? A rule of reason needs to apply. All govt officials need to act without partisanship.
Economics is critical and confidence is the most important concern. Constant negativism has taken a big toll. Restoring that will take many months and if it continues it will take years and that assumes we get honest and truthful and rational media and leadership behavior.

We're afraid of what's happening in Italy - it's a literal nightmare over there. Seems like a legit threat, and the WHO doesn't designate just anything a global pandemic. Most of the doctors and nurses in Italy are corona-positive, but they have to keep treating patients, because there there isn't anyone else that can.

The hysteria of buying stores out of toilet paper and bottled water is one thing, but conflating this with the flu is an over correction. Our healthcare system is already dealing with the flu that kills 60k to 80k annually. Now you're introducing another virus that has higher infection rates. You can look to Italy as a recent example of how easily a healthcare system can be overwhelmed by this threat.

The media is acting like this is a plague threatening to kill hundreds of millions.
Take it serious no question but doomsday it is not. We dont stop driving even though 50,000 die annually in crashes. If people choose to stay home from NBA or NCAA bb games - fine. But cancel rest of a season is another. its just hysteria but hysterical reactions to this is nuts. People will lose jobs, homes, businesses, life savings and too often their sanity in cases like this.
