Tangent Thread - P&R Edition

I don’t think any of the mods are regular enough on the P&R forum if they think cumulatively there is enough of this behavior from all other posters to reach even 10% of how often NDJ does it. Even teach doesn’t do it at a comparative level.

I don’t expect an unpaid mod to read all the posts on a topic they aren’t interested in but it’s definitely the wrong conclusion to think anyone else comes close to doing what NDJ does. All lies or misinformation posted by people who don’t like Trump do not combine to come close to the bulls#!t he posts.

That said I’m not sure he’s earned a ban but I haven’t read much of Omaha’s posts to see the comparison.

I think some of this is fair, but for veracity's sake, I never said anything about equivalency. It would be entirely anecdotal. I simply stated the behavior NDJ is accused of committing is sometimes exhibited by other board members; yet, for whatever reason, those tend to go unnoticed or unmentioned. It's not uncommon to have multiple parties reporting each other in P&R for telling lies, 'misinformation,' 'trolling,' etc, particularly when they're on two opposite sides of an issue. It's also not uncommon for two people with severely contradicting viewpoints to accuse one or the other of relying on the wrong type of sources or information.

Generally speaking, we're inclined to allow people to share their opinions here, even if they're unpopular or based off of inaccurate information. I believe trolling is a far more nebulous accusation in P&R than in other board forums, and simultaneously open to a lot of interpretation.

I'm also not convinced NDJ is sharing his opinions for the explicit purpose of trolling.

Omaha Fan was officially banned for violating the 'no P&R outside of P&R' rule despite multiple unofficial and official warnings. He also abused the reporting system. I made mention that I anecdotally believed he was not interested in harboring honest conversation, but that was not part of the evaluation process for his ban.

The one thing I know for sure, if @Notre Dame Joe is not purposefully trolling at least 90% of the time, he has to be one of the most brainwashed dumbf#&%s any of us has ever run across. Not sure if being a brainwashed dumbf#&% trips the banhammer trigger or not. Maybe it should?

I will say he is a special kind of stupid because the stuff he posts is so incredible, I haven't even put him on ignore because I can't look away from the train wreck. But it is a complete waste to try to engage him on any topic.  He doesn't provide anything you couldn't get at a $1 freak show.

I agree Omaha Fan is worse. I also agree with others that NDJ is either a troll or dumber than a box of rocks with no peer in the P&R forum, but unfortunately I've found out the past few years the latter applies to a lot more people than I thought it did. I see far worse in replies on FB friends' posts. Saw a guy, not jokingly, blaming the fires on California's forest underbrush, RE: Trump saying they need to rake more.

Don't know whether football will be played in B10 or not. I do know this decision is politically motivated. The science says (which i've heard so much about) 18-24 year olds have an equal or greater chance of dying from the flu than the China Virus. This doesn't even take into account the health these college age athletes are in.  Yet, last year and the year before  that and the year before that college athletes were allowed to play.

What changed? The chaos the Democratic leadership wants this country to endure for the sake of an election. Collateral damage is acceptable when looking out for the "good" of the uneducated masses. Don't believe it. The history books are full of power hungry individuals and nations that would stop at nothing to gain power and control.

Don't be fooled by the narrative positive cases are a critical metric when deciding to play football or anything or else. The media and some physicians figure if they say this long and loud enough it is true. It is not! Again, most students this age won't even know they are infected, some will get sick, some even sick enough to be hospitalized, the unfortunate few will die. Sounds bad though doesn't it. Except for the fact this HAPPENS EVERY YEAR WITH THE FLU VIRUS. Again, though, we are talking about college athletes who are in exceptional physical condition. Check the data yourself.

Be thankful you don't live in Illinois where having fun is not part of the reopening plan. Thank you for letting me share my thoughts, which i can't even do on one of the politically correct Illini forums. Congrats to your coach for having the guts to speak up.

I hadn't heard anyone dredge up the "it's the flu" take since we crossed the 70,000 death threshold way back in April after this thing went 2x flu.

Wrong.

18-24 year olds have an equal or greater chance of dying from the flu

Missing the point.

China Virus.

Holy ****

College athletes have died from this.

Who is the President right now?

Flu kills, on average, inbetween 12,000 and 61,000 people a year, measured between 2010 and 2019. COVID-19 has killed 196,000.

I'm old enough to know that sometimes being responsible isn't fun, but it's necessary. Particularly when people's health and lives are at stake.

And I was told ads would be minimal and not intrusive.
