Okay, since I came up with the awesome "Griddle Me This" thread, now I am starting one for the crock pot or "slow cooker" for you dongs that call it that.

What is your favorite meal to make in one?  And yes, I would have been an amazing 1980's housewife, thank you for asking.

Here is one:

Crockpot Chicken Pot Pie

Toss in a bunch of chicken thighs (or dice up a Costco Rotisserie chicken)

Two cans of cream of chicken soup

1 bag of stuffing

Bag of frozen veggies

some chicken stock

and 10-12 raw biscuits

Toss is all in and enjoy!

Today I did

Stir fry strips (some sort of beef) that I cut up smaller

Soy sauce mixed with jarlic (I don't dice my own, just get it from the jar), brown sugar and water.

3 bags of boiled rice

Bag of frozen broccoli

Pretty solid but next time I would use noodles (not the bass player from The Offspring)

How long and what temp setting on the "Chicken Pot Pie?"

Once in a while I have to work late into the evening and I don't have time to make dinner. I throw half a pork shoulder and a can of Cream of Mushroom soup in the crock pot and cook it on low all day. Super awesome and zero work. You can do the same with a chuck roast, or a whole chicken.

Ohhhh, I have never done that with Cream of Mushroom.  That sounds good.

Then just some mashed potatoes.

The Instant Pot (or similar) on slow cook setting is better than a traditional crock pot IMO. Loses less moisture and easier to clean. Plus you can use it as a pressure cooker.

Crock Pot liners are a must-have.

I've only tried my instant pot as a crock pot once. Didn't really notice any difference, and I like my crock pot, so I stick with that.

I'm sure an instapot is nice for some things.  But, like you, I like my crock pot and really have no desire to buy yet another big appliance to store in my kitchen.  I had my son's air fryer for a couple months.  Tried it a couple times....naa.....not worth it.

As for crock pot recipes.  We have a really good beef stew we like.

Put chuck roast in with Old Bay Seasoning and some water.  Cook for 6-8 hours till roast falls apart.  Add some corn and egg noodles.  Taste to see if need more seasoning.  Enjoy!!!

If you like your crock pot, then I wouldn't switch until it breaks. The instant pot doesn't need a liner though since it's a stainless steel bowl. There's no difference in the cooking results AFAICT.

Both of those are good slow cooked. Chili is easy and good. Beef stroganoff also. Mostly I use our slow cooker for making broth/stock.

One I do...

A pound of ground beef (you don't need to cook it first, just toss it in), a can or pinto beans, a can of diced tomatoes and corn, taco seasoning and some salsa.

Makes a great did and it is also great for burritos
