***The 2022 Offensive Line***

I don't like naming names, but this will of course be obvious who we're talking about...there's one guy on the line that used to be a walk-on that got a scholarship.

But he's not the really good kind of walk-on story that showed up and beat out some other quality schollie guys...he got the job because there was really nobody else.

This is the "developing depth" problem. It again isn't because the recruiting classes don't bring in some good players, it's probably more of a function of Greg Austin not having gotten things rolling properly in the first two years.
I was the same (with the bold).  But with the exception of Teddy and Lutovsky, the rest of the guys are 21/22/23 year old young men.  And since college athletes are now getting paid for name, image and likeness  - to go along with free education, the tutors, the best health and physical trainers, an amazing weight room, and a delicious mess hall (food!!!) that most people would have to spend $75-100-125 per day to consume and enjoy........  saying names is ok in my book.  Because that is what it has become.

I could be a backup or 2nd-stringer and be super happy with that in college.  I'd probably get all A's.  I'd lift. I'd get free gear and t-shirts/sweatshirts.  I would eat every bit of those healthy delicious meals.  I wish I could afford $100 a day for food.  Instead, it's fish sticks and some canned tuna.  LOL

As much as #69 was hyped as an incoming recruit…his time here has been underwhelming thus far at left tackle and now at left gaurd.

He did look too bad at RT last season when Benhart got pulled.

Or maybe they have been in college for 5 years, are about to be 24 years old, and want to move on with their life?
I think with NIL money some of these guys will end up regretting the decision to try to jump to the NFL if they are honest.  I'm almost certain they all thought they'd land on and NFL team when they declared and I'd bet at least ten dollars that they all wish they'd be out there with wearing red if they could have a do over. Just like Frost wishes he didn't know what an onside kick was.  The problem is, in life, sometimes there are big kid decisions with no do-overs. You have to be extra careful with those ones.

I haven't followed NIL money much, but just making a practice squad in the NFL is 200k a year, that's a butt ton of money to have in your mid 20s.

I do wonder how much of the poor Oline play is on Hixson. He is supposed to call out blocking schemes and direct traffic on the oline. If he's not doing that part of his job correctly, it would make the play of everyone else on the oline look terrible in return.

I've figured that it's the opposite: he's starting at center because he can make the right calls, despite his lack of abilities on the physical side of things.
