That would be John McCain. Who was running bomber missions over North Vietnam when he was shot down and seriously injured, then captured and tortured for six years as a POW. When his captors found out he was the son of a U.S. Navy Admiral, they offered John McCain his freedom. He declined, choosing to remain in POW hell with his military brothers.

Please explain to the class why that makes John McCain a loser, and why your own experience renders you more noble.

The funny this is you could you imagine if Obama has said McCain was a loser and accused him being a turn coat. The blue no matter who voters are definitely cultish in a lot of ways but reversing on McCain, who these people voted for, just because their dear leader was too dumb to keep his mouth shut about a war hero, is definitely some cult behavior. Trump gets his little feelings hurt all the time and lashes out, and then people have to find ways to bend over backwards to smear whoever hurt him or invent some conspiracy about the deep state.  Probably the reason Elon gets along with him.

The “never, ever back down from anything you’ve said or done because it’s weak” is straight from his lawyer Roy Cohn. I was today years old when I learned he was McCarthy’s chief counsel in the red scare trials.

That lesson never went away. What’s fascinating is how millions of Americans are now so enamored with the man they too dig in their heels and refuse to admit what their lying eyes tell them even when in their heart of hearts they know they’re lying to themselves. I.e. Trump is a scumbag who denigrated John McCain’s service repeatedly because he wouldn’t kiss the ring. That’s just one simple example. These folks are masterful at blaming literally anyone and anything else and somehow always absolving their idol of any wrongdoing.

It tells us a lot about ourselves.

Oh that is interesting. I didnt know that. The red scare really has continued to pay large dividends for right wing politicians and their corporate buddies so it makes sense to get someone who was a master at capitalizing on that fear to seize power.

Trump hates McCain so much because McCain was at ground zero of the fake Steele Dossier.   McCain knew it had all sorts of fake s#!t in it yet still passed it to people who would get it out in the open to hurt Trump.     

McCain was a War Hero and no one can take that away from him, and no not Trump.   But after his service, Build the dang wall McCain was an opportunistic politician like the rest of them who was a big reason our country went through all the fake Trump/Russia/Steele Dossier crap for 3 years.
