The 2024 Election —What did we learn?

Just an aside, with apologies:  How do you guys get that user name button thingy in a post?  I see it used by Mavric in the Contest Crib every week, and when I try it I get nothing but the text.
type the @ then the name without space  @Hagg   It then brings up the names that are applicable and you pick the right one

You type the @ symbol and then the person's user name. A little popup comes up with possible names, you select the one you want and it embeds the link/notification in the post.

Looks like this:

Trump massively improved his margins with nearly all demographic groups. This is mostly because of inflation, so it'll be interesting to see how many of these groups stick with the GOP in future elections, indicating true gains within those demographic groups, and which groups revert back towards Democrats, indicating that Trumps improvement was circumstantial.
If the GOP were smart, they would continue a hard line immigration stance.  It’s helping win the Hispanic vote and they should increase their reaching out to the AA vote.

Absolutely. I'd be shocked if either party chooses to cede immigration to the other side.

Democrats are going to pivot hard on immigration, and for good reason. They were very late in taking it seriously. They negotiated a pretty good immigration package but did so far to late.

Agreed.   I have to commend @Dr. Strangelove for being steadfast in his prediction and keen insight.  I was wrong in my forecast and did not weighed the economy enough and gave too much weight to character.

John Kennedy and St Paul both said:  "Be patient in tribulation."

We can't stand for democracy only when our side wins.   It is a hard work to keep it.
I find it strange many believe Kamala is a high character person and of moral repute.  Fascinating position.  She isn't even truthful about her race and heritage...

Democracy is better connotative word for rule-by-mob.  Thank God we're a Constitutional Republic.

I learned the American people seem tired of the Leftists agenda.  In Texas, Colin Allred ran against Ted Cruz.  Allred couldn't keep his position straight having voted for multiple transgender rights, calling a border wall racist, and then saying he was going to crack down on illegal immigration while protecting women from transgendered playing sports or changing in locker rooms with them.  It was a mess.  He was saying whatever he could to pander for votes.  He lost.

Allred represents a broader case of what happened in the presidential election.

Also interesting.  Leading up to the election both Vance and Trump joined Joe Rogan's podcast.  Kamala did a Shannon Sharpe interview.  A simple Chrome plugin allows for dislikes to be shown.

Here are the numbers:

Trump / JRE:  46.1M views     2.1M Likes.  46K Dislikes.

Vance / JRE:  15.1M views.    659K Likes.   8.9K Dislikes

Kamala / Sharpe:  1.6M views.  56K Likes.  201K Dislikes.   And the comments are brutal.

Pretty hard to imagine Trump not winning the Bro Culture vote.
The ratios are telling, and the platform being YouTube brings a variety of viewer profiles.  60M+ views for Vance and Trump videos; that's 40-45%% of the # of votes that will end up cast.

I learned that even as cynical as I am and as much disdain as I have for the typical American voter, they still manage to surprise me. Not in my wildest dreams did I imagine they would elect Trump after the last 8 years of bulls#!t. And that is while fully realizing just how bad of candidates Harris or Biden were. I guess the low IQ reality TV crowd is a greater portion of the electorate than I imagined.

IDK, maybe I am in a somewhat unique position. Inflation didn’t weigh on me personally the way I’m sure it did on many others. My income kept pace and it has actually been very good for my business. Also my investments and retirement savings have been doing great under Biden. I saw no need to fix what wasn’t broken imo.

I’m not overly concerned about myself under a Trump presidency. I’m an older white male that might benefit from further tax breaks. I’m not a female and am past the child bearing years so I don’t have that whole thing to directly worry about. I am concerned for my kids and what they are going to inherit from the next 4 years but all I’ve got is one vote. Hopefully the worst parts of Project 2025 do not come to fruition.

I think the people I am most concerned about, after American citizens of the near future, would be the Ukrainians. Did nobody stop to consider exactly why Putin and Russia were so anxious to see DJT elected? My opinion and expectations of Republicans and Trump voters absolutely cannot sink any lower than they are right now. Congrats.

No one said she was a saint but compared to Trump.....  I don't understand the mindset in which people casually overlook J6, rape, womanizing, fraud, defaulting on payments to his vendors, using Ch 11 as a regular business tool, tax evasion, constantly insulting others, the list goes on and on.  When it comes to these issues,  to me character does matter.  I can put up with bad policies for a while, but bad character can take us down the wrong path.  Good character will make decisions that are best for us all and not just for one person and those who are loyal to him.

And thanks for this 7th grade civics lesson.  ;)

This is so true.  Putin can abide his time.   Others I'm concerned about is how real humans, who aren't citizens, will be treated when he starts his massive deportation.  I'm also concerned that the far right states will now out do themselves on restrictions aimed at women's health - which can also affect pre-natal care.

Liberals fabricated lies for indictment to get him imprisoned.  "Russia!!"  "He was Epstein's best friend!"  He'd be in prison if there was something substantive.  "He's racist!"  My how far the Dems have come from their slave-owning Klan bake days.

And, you're welcome.  I find it no accident "democracy" is the buzz word.  They know what it means.  They want mob rule, but now, libs didn't even win the popular vote.  The people were indeed tired.

Trump won handily because of the last four tragic years of lies and filth.  We've been in war, or threat of, for Biden's entire regime.

I'm excited to see what Clinton life-long friend Ghislaine Maxwell (Epstein's handler, yes, she was at the Chelsea Clinton wedding) and lib-loving P Diddy investigations turn up with a revamped DOJ.  Kids don't traffic themselves...
