The 2024 Election —What did we learn?

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trumps-return-power-fueled-by-hispanic-working-class-voter-support-2024-11-06/

The starkest increase may have been the 14-percentage-point swing in Trump's share of Hispanic voters, according to an exit poll conducted by Edison Research. Some 46% of self-identified Hispanic voters picked Trump, up from 32% in the 2020 election when Trump lost to Democrat Joe Biden.
Hispanics have largely favored Democrats for decades, but Trump's share this year was the highest for a Republican presidential candidate in exit polls going back to the 1970s, and just higher than the 44% share won by Republican George W. Bush in 2004, according to data compiled by the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank.

Trump has made opposition to immigration a cornerstone of his political career, pledging to conduct mass deportations of people living in the U.S. illegally. Many Hispanic voters supported Trump's hardline positions, according to the Edison Research exit poll. About a quarter of Hispanic respondents said most immigrants in the country without documentation should be deported to the countries they came from, compared with 40% of voters overall in the poll.
You are the only one sarcastically saying it’s all about immigration.  And I really hope you and your side keep that attitude for 4 years.

You literally only bought up Hispanic voters change specifically in regards to immigration. Don't try to deflect. You said well Trump clearly has good messaging on immigration he gained in Hispanic voters.

As someone who lives and grew up in majority Hispanic areas I can tell you abortion, which seemed to be the Dems biggest message, is an issue for Dems more so than immigration. You quoted the part that said only a quarter of respondents agreed with deportation and ignored this  "This was a referendum on the economy, and that has consistently been the number one, two and three issues for Hispanic voters."

Again though my side is not democrats and even if it was I have no say in their messaging.  I don't care if someone with an R next to their name did all of the policies I want. I would gladly vote for them in that case. I don't have a side picked and just follow their positions.

This Democrat 'learned' and is no longer afraid to say so. Good for her. Common sense. Didn't the Biden  admin decree that any school receiving federal funds must allow males in women's sports?

Here another one.

https://www.wcvb.com/article/rep-moulton-defends-controversial-comments-about-transgender-athletes/62858174

"Democrats spend way too much time trying not to offend anyone rather than being brutally honest about the challenges many Americans face," Moulton told the New York Times. "I have two little girls, I don't want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat, I'm supposed to be afraid to say that."

I'm fine making rules about transgender people in sports to make things fair.  But this fear is so hilarious. When I played soccer in high school we scrimmaged the girls team every year. Also every PE class is mixed and both genders play all the sports together. I guess those parents should be concerned about their daughters getting run over. This really is just the new satanic panic designed to rile up the boring people in the suburbs who have nothing else to fear in life.

You should try to look up what Biden actually did instead of assuming. He made changes to title XI that added more protection for victims of assault. It did stop outright banning transgender people from all sports but allowed rules to be put in place for competitive sports where being born a different sex than your gender would be an advantage.

Ummmm yeah. Glad you are catching on.

Ummm yeah.   I’m pointing out Hispanics care about the border and immigration much more than you want to admit.   It’s a given they care about the economy.

I had friends telling me they were voting for trump in 2016 because their family members could be citizens but were just too lazy. I have known that some people vote like that for a long time. There are also women that voted for Trump because of his stance in abortion it doesn't mean it's the deciding factor in the election. Ladder pullers have always existed and it's a sentiment Republicans do well with especially with Trump. He draws in a lot of the f#&% you I got mine type energy that resonates with a lot of the country.

Didn't the Biden  admin decree that any school receiving federal funds must allow males in women's sports?

Biden's executive order was a relatively boilerplate emphasis on enforcing the Supreme Court's decision and precedent as federal law, namely in Bostock v. Clayton, which the majority opinion described as “It is impossible to discriminate against a person for being homosexual or transgender without discriminating against that individual based on sex.” They said Title IX and other federal laws “prohibit discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation, so long as the laws do not contain sufficient indications to the contrary.”

Biden didn't decide that precedent, the Supreme Court did, and until such a time as the law is changed trans athletes can not be banned carte blanche from competing in their respective gendered sports. They can still though, be subject to organizational mandates of hormone levels, hormone treatments, legal declarations and so forth.

Provide a source that shows how they decide Republican and Democrat and who the donations were to. Or do another I read the headline and got all I needed.

“When I started doing research on charity,” Brooks wrote, “I expected to find that political liberals — who, I believed, genuinely cared more about others than conservatives did — would turn out to be the most privately charitable people. So when my early findings led me to the opposite conclusion, I assumed I had made some sort of technical error. I reran analyses. I got new data. Nothing worked. In the end, I had no option but to change my views.”

The first meta data analysis link is the real key but it still would take a lot to unpack all the studies they used and how political affiliation is determined. It includes Brooks citations which are the subject of the option piece you link plus more. Both give a lot of "charity" for institutions they specifically use. Liberals are also more likely to live in areas of higher tax and conservatives live in places that receive more in government assistance with lower taxes.

There are definitely are a whole hell of a lot of good Christians that are very charitable and give a lot of money and their time to help around their own community. They will mostly only vote for a Republican no matter how much a candidate is very obviously not a Christian and against their actual values. That doesn't change him pulling in a lot of votes from who just enjoy the a$$h@!e vibes.

I learned that not all college campuses are safe rooms and antisemitic protestors.

The video in the upper right shows students running out of their dorms for an election celebration on the soccer field. Unlike the pro hamas protests, no students were blocked from attending classes the next day....other than maybe some with hangovers. :cowbell:

The videos here are surprising.
