The 2024 Election —What did we learn?

I think there has to be some way to work this out, and do not condone the hysterical response from the right. But, it is a larger issue than you present above.

Your link fails to make any case as to the largeness of the issue, due to this little nugget:

"The paper didn’t elaborate on at what sporting events the medals were won, or over what time frame."

Knowing the parameters of what we're talking about is the only way to gauge how big the issue is, and this report doesn't do that at all. Is this over the last year, or the last 1,000 years? Is this professional sports only, or does this go all the way down to 1st grade co-ed recreational T-Ball?

Not sure, as it was a United Nation's press release, so you would have to ask them.

From the article I posted: "The paper didn’t elaborate on at what sporting events the medals were won, or over what time frame."

Three things in life are certain: 1) death, 2) taxes, 3) if Devo posts a link, it is some inflammatory nonsense that he has no intention of actually vetting, and he will play dumb once he gets called out on it.

You see an obviously bull$h!t claim like:

Female athletes have lost nearly 900 medals to transgender rivals competing against them in women’s sporting categories, an eye-opening United Nations report has revealed.
and it doesn't even make you pause and think..."hmmm, does this even sound remotely plausible?"

Your article doesn't even make any effort to substantiate that crap.

Here is at least someone who decided to look into it with some critical thought: https://jabberwocking.com/wait-trans-athletes-have-won-890-medals-in-womens-sports/#comments

It was a report for the UN. The author is listed. Feel free to research the UN presentation on the issue?

And I have no idea what your link is providing?

I think this article interviewing the director of the Women's Rights division of Human Rights Watch does a good job of summing it up.

https://www.hrw.org/news/2024/11/18/interview-womens-rights-under-trump

From a guy who thinks you can just grab em by the pu&&y, I don't think you can expect much respect for women and their rights.
Hold on,,,, you made this specific claim of which your article doesn’t provide proof of.   Will you be backing up your bulls#!t claim on who claims this or not?  After you provide the backup, we can discuss the s#!tty article you provided.

Well according to the incoming administration they don't deserve rights over their own body, the decision should be made for them by men.

His link is providing information about the author and the UN presentation.  It basically says it was a biased author that pulled info from a junk website.  So essentially meaningless outside of social media points.

Because a blog post from this Kevin guy is the definitive source on this topic...okay.

And, this Kevin guy worked for/wrote for...Mother Jones...for 15 years. But  sure, I guess he is a much better, unbiased resource...lol

But he’s the only one to actually track down the original source, which seems to be pretty “iffy”

Either way, this all social media culture war bs that our world is driven by.

His own words show he doesn't care about womens rights. Let the states decide about abortion and birth control. My state's government is made up of majority men making legislation about what women can and can't do with their body. How is that not their policy to let men decide for women in many states including my own

I checked the source of the UN report directly from their citation. The claim comes from a, "Submission From Women's Liberation Front, International Consortium on Female Sport and Dianne Post on behalf of Lavender Patch."

What is the Women's Liberation Front? According to their website, "WoLF works to abolish regressive gender roles and the epidemic of male violence through legal and policy advocacy and public education." They're regular guests at places like the Heritage Foundation, and they claim with their own words to be working towards 'abolishing gender ideology' and to 'defend sex-segregation of women’s sports, bathrooms, and locker rooms.' So, yeah, a little bit of bias.

But that still doesn't answer what those numbers mean or where they came from. But I looked into that too. It comes from this site - https://www.shewon.org/ - which has a database, which anybody can submit to, and contains ~1,000 claimed chances of women missing out on placing in various things, worldwide, in the last 24 years. The list includes croquet, disc golf, Jeopardy, esports, billiards, & more, and is almost entirely unsourced.

That's a lot of digging. Kudos.

As i said earlier I think it's an issue, and more common than @Guy Chamberlinwas alleging, but not as horrific and scary as folks like Nancy Mace portray. Hope a middle ground can be found.
