The Angry Violent Right

I'm old enough to remember Archy insisting that Trump's would-be assassin giving $15 to ActBlue counted more than him being a registered Republican.

But fair enough. I dropped this in Angry Violent Right because it involves political violence against a prominent Democrat, and The Angry Violent Left, Democrat Utopia, Republican Utopia, and Just A Regular American Utopia threads didn't seem like a better match.
Thanks for answering my question. But, it is now apparent that he did it because he's an antisemite. We should all be careful not to rush to judgment before we have all of the facts.

I don't know, it seems like he fits in this thread.

"Since the shooting, Ikner’s previous classmates from his time at Tallahassee State College have said his political beliefs were extreme and they were made uncomfortable with his “concerning rhetoric” – including describing Civil Rights icon Rosa Parks as being “in the wrong,” defending the use of Nazi symbols, and disparaging pro-Palestinian and Black Lives Matter protesters."

"Phoenix Ikner is a registered Republican, according to Florida voter registration records. He was quoted in January in an FSU student newspaper article about anti-Trump protests in advance of the president’s inauguration.

“These people are usually pretty entertaining, usually not for good reasons,” Ikner was quoted as saying. “I think it’s a little too late, he’s (Trump) already going to be inaugurated on Jan. 20 and there’s not really much you can do unless you outright revolt, and I don’t think anyone wants that.”

"Logan recalled a conversation about gentrification where Ikner said Black people were ruining the property value of his neighborhood. Ikner also criticized Rosa Parks for refusing to give up her seat on an Alabama bus, Logan said. Ikner also claimed Joe Biden was not the legitimate president of the United States, Lucas said."

“He would joke about the deaths of minorities,” Lucas said. “He talked about how Stonewall was bad for our society,” he added, referring to a pivotal moment in the LGBTQ+ civil rights movement."

"Riley Pusins, who became the president of a nonpartisan political discourse club last fall, says he remembers Ikner calling protesters in the pro-Palestinian movement and demonstrations that followed the police killing of George Floyd “dirty rats.”

Wrong person. We were talking about the guy that set fire to the Dem Governor's house.

I have the same problem with the Angry Violent Lefties.
Of course you do.  Although this thread is 2.5x longer.  BTW you can be the first to gut up and post in the "Trump voter safe space" thread.  Be a pioneer.  Get it all off your chest.  While you're there tell us all how the past three months had made America great again.

Sounds like you're the one that needs a safe space. Carry on.
Actually are you sure this Balmer guy doesn't belong in this thread?  I mean at least this part of his history fits.

"Balmer’s social media presence suggests he held staunch anti-government views. He often posted memes urging people to "become ungovernable" and reposted an artwork of a Molotov cocktail in 2022 with the slogan "Be the light you want to see in the world."

"He posted negative content about President Joe Biden and seemed to reject Biden’s 2020 presidential win. He shared posts on Facebook criticizing Biden during his term, including a picture with the text "Joe Biden owes me 2 grand" and a post that said, "Biden supporters shouldn’t exist."

Hold on. I just Googled this looking for confirmation, and found no one willing to say anything conclusive about Thomas Crooks having an antisemitic motive. Some right wing websites immediately claimed he was a pawn in an Israeli/Mossad plot to kill Trump, the opposite of an anti-semite. Other speculation used Crooks social media accounts to make a lot of claims, much of it murky and some of it hoax. Sure you didn't just rush to judgement yourself?  And would an anti-semitic post clear anything up?

This is the guy we were originally talking about.

CNN  —
Cody Balmer, the man accused of setting fire to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s residence, told 911 operators he targeted the governor in part because of what he believed were Shapiro’s views on the war in Gaza, according to search warrants released Wednesday.

The warrants, first reported by news site PennLive, say Balmer called 911 early Sunday after the fire and said Shapiro, who is Jewish, needs to know he “will not take part in his plans for what he wants to do to the Palestinian people.”

Ah. Looks like I had shifted over to Crooks to make the rush to judgement analogy.

Everybody wants to stick these guys on their enemies side, but the the supposed partisan motives get pretty murky.
