The Big Ten's (And NU's) Struggle for Respect

Can we please just ban him already. The majority of the time we just b!^@h against Polo's obsessive pessimism, turning every discussion into a Polo vs the Board topic. He is ruining the board for a lot of people. The crazy thing is, is that Polo CAN bring good conversation to the table but he just chooses not to, and it's gotten to the point that I've questioned whether he is really disgruntled at situations or it yanks his chain to argue with LOMS, Knapp, myself, or whoever really. I can't be the only one with that going through my head can I? The sad part is, I don't know if we would even know how to function without him around.

I really feel sorry for him though, how miserable is he, when that's all he talks about. He is one of those people who isn't happy unless he's pissed and talking down on Pelini.
No, actually, I'm more than happy to talk about the article I posted, before the people above derailed it and insulted me.
Please, tell me where I insulted you. You just chose to stop replying to me.

Perhaps I wasn't talking about you....

But to your last post, I think it's asking a lot if we as a conference want "respect" because we aren't losing to the other teams by as much as we used to. It's going to take marquee wins like what msu did in the Rose Bowl, and consequently, they've got respect in spades.

And I would hope that more than a minority here thinks Nebraska isn't meeting their standards. Could be wrong though.
At this point you're either trolling this site or you're no longer a fan. I've seen enough. I'm done.
Hi, all. Another friendly reminder that here at HuskerBoard, we're not discussing the person/personality of other members, we're talking football.

Discuss the topic, not the member. If the discussion MUST be about the member, that's what the Woodshed is for.

Thanks for your attention to this rule.

Well, that was three minutes I'll never get back. Save your time and just watch the Gameday crew and they'll spin you the same narrative.

Random final note, I found it very odd that the last B1G team to beat a top ten team on the road was Northwestern. Against Nebraska. Weird.

*******

Never knew bowl games were played at B1G stadiums, how convenient and interesting.
Those would be neutral site games.

Any game not at home, or even in the home state, is considered on the road. Neutral, or not. Michigan State beat Stanford, at the Rose Bowl which is located in California, 2,200 miles from East Lansing.

Here is what would help IMO. Have the top teams in the West play the top teams in the East every year.

ie NU plays OSU/Michigan one year and then MSU/PSU the next. Wisky picks up 2 of the 4 and so does Iowa. Rotate this around. At least its the traditional power teams (or name recognition) playing each other. A lot better than us getting only MSU this year.

Yeah, a lot of this mess goes away with a better schedule. We'd at least know what this team was at this point.

So, if both teams are on the road, wouldnt that be neutral? As there is no home field advantage?

If both teams are on the road, then the B1G team is on the road, since it is one of the two teams.

Since playing on the road counts as, you know, playing on the road (on the road being the exact words you used, verbatim), then Michigan State beating Stanford would be the last B1G win over a top 10 team, on the road.

the B1G is expanding the conference schedule, right? that should help. then they need to schedule better noncon. i like how the SEC has an early conf. game (have a game people will care about early, set the narrative) and then an easy non-con game late. too bad we couldn't do a B1G/pac 12 yearly match-up weekend. i really wonder what everything looks like if wiscy beat lsu, osu is undefeated, and ksu beat auburn (heck, if msu beats oregon). that is the thing, this can flip pretty quickly. but having a good bowl showing will help. but the B1G needs good bowl match-ups, which is out of the conference's hands.
long term, i think our only comparative advantage will be coaches. this conference needs better coaches because we can get those. we will always struggle to compete with la, texas, and the south for recruits.
