The Courts (not specific to either party)

Is this the first time in American history that the President just completely ignored and defied a federal court order, and do we have enough energy left to care?

Best part is, apparently the President breaking the law isn't actually illegal.

I'm sure they are going to ignore anything the courts say because they believe they are above the law.

And....who's going to do anything about it?  Seriously....This congress isn't.  Republicans there are scared to death of him and they control everything.

Since the Supreme Court didn't rule that Biden couldn't cancel loan debt, but rather ruled that they couldn't cancel loan debt in that specific way, seems obvious that being rejected by the Supreme Court with one plan, then developing a different plan from a different direction, doesn't really qualify as ignoring and defying a federal court order.

Actually seems to be exactly the opposite, coming up with something different when your first plan was rejected, instead of just doing the first plan anyways.

Instead of canceling debt all at once, he came up with a scheme where borrowers could lower their payments to nothing or next to nothing AND then have the debt forgiven after a certain amount of time.

it’s the same thing as before, just a time difference.  And Joe knew it, which is why he openly said he defied the Supreme Court.

Its called the PSLF, it is a law that after 120 payments, if you are eligible, you can have your debt written off. Biden did not sign that law. And the SAVE program is currently under litigation. Trump is trying to get rid of every single income driven repayment program, even the ones before SAVE.

Just to point out if that occurs, it would literally drive me, a productive young member of the workforce, into bankruptcy and perpetual poverty.

Specifically I was going to use PSLF by working with generally poorer people so I could discharge my debt by the book. Bet they try everything possible to undermine people trying to use it now.

Doesn’t affect them though. Human lives are just lines on a spreadsheet.

They already made these things hard as hell to discharge if something goes wrong. Not affected by actual bankruptcy, they’ll come after your family if you die, etc.

All this to say I cannot understate just how massive out-of-touch chodes these guys are.

PSLF is something I have no problem with as long as it’s not bastardized.  And it doesn’t look like Trump is trying to get rid of it.

SAVE is a joke as I’ve stated before.  It’s just a workaround for the loan forgiveness that got smacked down by SCOTUS.

trying to say they are making borrowers pay minimum payments for a certain amount of time, yet making the minimum payments be nothing or next to nothing is essentially the same as what was previously attempted.

Let's not let Biden's kinda-sorta-but-actually-not-at-all 'defiance' of the Supreme Court (of course he'll phrase it that way to make himself sound tough with a winning narrative) distract from, you know, Trump and Co. actually blatantly and directly disregarding a federal court order from a judge.

Aren't the judges supposed to be the ones who decide the law? Where's all our folks who trust in the system of law and order as the means by which tyranny would certainly be impossible in the United States?

The SAVE program allowed me to start a family, so I highly disagree. And from the sounds of it, allowed Danny Bateman to keep his head above water. I still had to pay every month, but only a percentage of our income.

And the zero payment was for people making less than 30k I believe. Could be wrong about that number, but it was very low income people.

And Biden is the reason you cant discharge student loans if you declare bankruptcy. So he can screw off for that.
