You said "no reporter that leans left will be safe" but who exactly will be threatening them? It does not appear that wanting someone to step in for a faltering Joe is a Lefty position. 

The other scenario is Biden narrowly defeating Trump and -- assuming we survive the inevitable pro-Trump insurrection -- the President's decline continues, giving us four years of excuse-making, finger pointing, shadow leadership, and hiding from the public.
