A democrat also won a special election for the PA house, which now belongs to democrats. He overperformed 2024 general by 13 points in the district. MAGA Mike s#!tting his britches yet?

But the rule years ago was to be outraged for days on end and darn near every main media org outside of FoxNews to cover the story constantly, and then bring it up to almost every single Republican politician in  almost every single interview.   And post after post after post on how outraged people were.  
 

I’m perplexed at why that rule isn’t being followed now?  Shocker that the earlier outrage was faux.  😂

Because your party changed the rule and actually supports this kind of discourse.

These candidates lose, too. Because while they appear to check all the boxes, the Republican opponent simply needs to remind voters this person is a Democrat, who by definition must declare allegiance to Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Karl Marx.

A lot of this is true, but I'd say it's important to remember that elections are really just about 10 states, usually less. A Christmas photo of your family holding AR-15s is what gets you elected in Oklahoma, but it does not work well in Michigan.

I think if you asked Democrats in 2016 that in 2024, the GOP would hold 53 Senate seats and a razor thin House majority, they'd jump for joy. It can't be overstated how impossible the Senate is for Democrats, and they should thank their lucky stars that the primary process caused Republicans to throw away easily winnable Senate seats.

They nominated Kari Lake in Arizona TWICE. They nominated Herschel Walker in Georgia. They tried to carpet bag Dr. Oz in Pennsylvania. They nominated Blake Masters in Arizona who was the worst performing candidate in 2022. The GOP should be sitting on 56-58 Senate seats but they nominate worse candidates, on average, compared to Democrats. They just have more room for error because the Senate map naturally favors them.

Democrats are the party of highly motivated voters and will do extremely well in special elections and midterms. The question is if they can compete will in general elections with their current coalition. I suspect that they will not and need to change course immediately.
