last week HR brings me and another guy i work with a page from the handbook on sexual harrasment, sweet i said,who knew people had feelings? then she goes on to tell me my new coworker is female, sweet again,, female welders are usually hot.... in july. monday she started work. any way we get small talk goin, u married? no she says, kids? no boyfriend?no i have a woman. sweet again i say, my new coworker isnt ugly or hot, about a 9 or 13 beer kinda gal but funny as hell. shes more perverted than most guys ive worked with and will drop storys of her home life that kinda scare me . yes sweet your sayin, so after in indepth class on oral sex that she was teaching to a few of us this punk starts talkin smack to her,hes a little b!^@h tweeker woman beater so i makes it even funnier when she puts him against the wall and says "next time your MY b!^@h!" i havent seen this kid in 2 days! best part about this girl is she can weld and fab steel better than alot of guys i work with.if she could ever get down to 2 0r 3 beers id try a conversion.

 
The long you guys work together and if you continue to get along it will become easier for you to drop her down to a few beers. It always seems to happen that way.

I had a coworker like this once. We worked together two years. Greatest two years of coworker ever. Never be another like her. She left, moved across the country, five years ago, and I was worried I'd never see or talk to her again.

When she left I was in a funk at work for a month. It was really dreary and just sucked coming in every day. It reminded me of this quote from Shawshank Redemption:

I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice.
Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone.

I guess I just miss my friend.

I'm happy to say we've kept our friendship alive and it's going strong today, and whenever she comes home to see her family we get together for coffee or just to chat. She's the greatest person I've ever worked with. When she came on board it was like winning the lottery. I would adopt her as my sister if I could. She's just that awesome.

You are right to count yourself fortunate. I don't think you're likely to find that in the workplace very often. I never have.
