The Husker Prayer finally gettin it’s due?

Strife, Stride, Stripes.

Two of these can make contextual sense. I’ve never had anyone explain exactly how stripes fits or works. And so it’s odd to me that the guys who invented it so often say it is/was stripes. Just an observation.

Maybe they weren’t exactly sure what it was Jason Peter was screaming at the time
I think strips would be kind of a military reference, but it would make more sense to earn it not equal it.

I would assume stripes is a biblical reference. “By his stripes we are healed” referencing the 39 lashings.

The correct word was actually "Stryme," which is a Yiddish name, in reference to a mythical Hebrew folk hero who conquered his foes against all odds, even in the face of recruiting disadvantages and east coast bias. This prayer started during the Devaney days, but of course there were no cameras in the locker room back then. Unbeknownst to most, Bob Devaney studied obscure old-world religious stories as a hobby. By the time the 90s rolled around, Osborne and his christocentric agenda steered the team away from honoring Stryme and intentionally created the current confusion between stride, strife, and stripes that we debate to this day. When the adulterated prayer became known to the public, poor Stryme was essentially erased from Husker lore. Never forget.

Hey, we’re trying to narrow it down to one option, not expand it to four
